Girls Championship Recap

Yarmouth dominated the Class B girls championship, scoring 101 points to pull away from Freeport (82) and Greely (77) in an impressive team performance defined by both top-end talent and depth.

Yarmouth's title effort was fueled by standout performances across sprints, relays, and field events. Miah Jacobs led the charge on the track, winning the 100m in 12.20 and adding a third-place finish in the 200m (26.03), while teammate Hayden Aines just a freshman delivered a strong all-around meet with a runner-up finish in the 100m (12.57) and victories in the field, including the long jump (18-3) and a third-place finish in the triple jump (37-0.75).

In the throws, Yarmouth's Ella Cameron had one of the most impressive meets of any athlete, winning the javelin (121-1) and discus (114-5) while also placing in the shot put (fourth, 36-8) and contributing in the pole vault.

The Clippers' dominance extended into the relays, where they captured the 4x100 in 49.30 which was a new Class B state meet record, and added solid points in the 4x800 (third, 10:18.82) and 4x400 (third, 4:18.52).

Freeport and Greely kept the meet competitive through their own balanced efforts. Freeport found success in distance and relays, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the 4x400 (4:13.60) and a win in the 4x800 (9:53.82).

Freeport's runner-up finish was anchored by a strong distance corps and well-rounded scoring across relays and field events. On the track, Lilah Hall placed fourth in the 800m (2:18.42) and fifth in the 1600m (5:14.47), while Ella Oshetski added key points in both events, including a sixth-place finish in the 1600m (5:16.50).

In the field events, Briella Boudreau provided a strong showing with a second-place finish in the pole vault (9-6), while Tizita Rackmales added points in both the pole vault and javelin.

Greely kept the meet highly competitive through its strength in the hurdles, distance events, and jumps. Rowan Barry was a centerpiece of that effort, winning the 800m in 2:17.48 while also finishing as the runner-up in the 1600m (5:01.38) and adding points in the 3200m with a fifth-place finish. 

In the hurdles, Victoria Zandan delivered a standout performance, winning the 300m hurdles in 45.85 and narrowly missing a second title with a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles (15.36). She also added significant field event points with a second-place finish in the long jump (18-0.75) and scoring marks in the triple jump, making her one of the meet's top all-around contributors.

Across the meet, several athletes delivered standout individual performances. Mt. Desert Island's Seneca Haney, who won the 200m in 24.74 and finished second in the 100m (12.25). In the distance events, York's Zoe Carroll captured the 1600m (4:58.41) and added a runner-up finish in the 3200m, while Lincoln Academy's Karen Higgins took the 3200m title in 11:07.45.

Field events were equally competitive, with Old Town's Elyannah Briggs winning the high jump at 5-6, Hermon's Daijha Grant claiming the triple jump at 37-8.75, and Nokomis' Angelina Boisvert winning the shot put with a mark of 38-7.25 while also placing in multiple jumps and hurdles events.

Boys Championship Recap


York earned the Class B boys title with 93 points, holding off Greely (73) and Yarmouth (61) behind a strong combination of individual champions and consistent scoring depth.

York's championship was anchored by performances across hurdles, distance, and the throwing events. Jackson Walker led the hurdle group with a win in the 110m hurdles (15.75) while also placing in the 300m hurdles, and teammate Asher Kuhn added key points with a third-place finish in the 300m hurdles (41.03).

Christopher Dimino was a key contributor, finishing second in the 100m (11.10) and adding another scoring performance in the 200m with an eighth-place finish (23.37).

In the field events, York saw major scoring from William Fagan, who won the shot put with a throw of 53-4.5, and Casey Raymond, who placed in both the discus (third, 144-2) and shot put (fourth). 

York also stayed competitive in the relays, finishing second in the 4x400 (3:31.28).

Across the meet, standout individual performances highlighted the depth of Class B competition. Leavitt's Mason Henderson was one of the top performers, sweeping the 100m (10.93) and 200m (22.17) while also winning the 400m in 49.71, completing a sprint triple.

Distance events were led by Freeport's Alex Gilbert, who won both the 1600m (4:29.51) and 3200m (9:49.25), while John Bapst's Gavin Rogers took the 800m in 1:57.58.

In the field, Ellsworth's Boris Felix won the high jump at 6-2, while Cony's Shaquan Fellows claimed the long jump with a leap of 20-9.75. Erskine Academy's Elijah Pelkey won the triple jump at 43-1.5, and Mt. Desert Island's Joseph Bennett dominated the discus at 158-5 while also placing second in the shot put. Belfast's Minh Ha captured the javelin title with a throw of 164-6, and Patrick Saltysiak of MDI won the pole vault clearing 13-6.

Relay competition remained highly competitive, with Cony winning both the 4x100 (43.53) and 4x400 (3:30.41), while John Bapst claimed the 4x800 (8:21.56).
