Matt McClintock Fall Athlete Blog

Hey everyone!

My name is Matt McClintock and I was chosen to write a Fall Athlete Blog for all of you.  First off let me say that I hope all of you are having fun this summer vacation and that I hope all of your training is going exactly as planned!

(Festival Of Champions Seeded Race 2010)

For those of you who don’t know me very well I figure I’ll give you a little insight into my life.  I’m an upcoming senior at Madison Area Memorial High School.  Other than running my favorite hobby is playing guitar.  I’ve been running since I was first eligible to join the junior high cross country team in 5th grade and have loved it ever since.  I live with my mom (Lisa), dad (Mike), sister (Allie you guys will be hearing from her on the trails this year), dog (Mogy), and two cats (Emma and Hershey).  I have two very big running idols, Haile gebrselassie, and Steve Prefontiane (GO PRE!).

Things have been going pretty well this summer.  I’ve PR’d twice over 5k this summer.  I ran 15:42 at the local Farm To Farm 5k (weekly race, you should all check it out) and then a couple weeks later I managed a 15:31 at the Egg Scramble Run To End Hunger 5k.

Sorry, but I don’t like going into to much detail about my training haha I’m a little obsessive compulsive about it, but I will say things are going about as well as they can be and I’m really looking forward to my upcoming senior season.

One thing I hope to do in everyone of these entries is to leave you with a super inspirational running quote.  This entry I guess we’ll start off with my all time favorite quote…

“There may be people out there that can beat me, but they’re gonna have to bleed to do it” - Steve Prefontaine

HAVE A GOOD SUMMER EVERYONE!
