 Hello everyone!

Hope everyone had a great summer, and also a great first week of pre-season. I haven’t done an entry since last November so I have plenty to talk about. I did have a very unfortunate outdoor season due to a foot injury, but you all know how common these little injuries are in running. Just more annoying than anything. Anyway, I took some time off and enjoyed myself. August 15th came faster than ever, and now its time to get back into the routine of practice and soon school! This season is more special than any other because it is my last cross country season of high school. I am so excited for my senior year in so many aspects. I am also sad to see this chapter of my life be over.

Enough talk about that for now lets talk about how excited I am for the season to get going! I think everyone will agree that running alone just gets very old after a month or two. That’s one reason why I couldn’t wait to go to practice Monday and run with everyone. I was also excited to see my coach Valerie who I didn’t get to see all summer while see was away in France. We only had one senior last year; Hilary so everyone else was back, but I do miss her very much! We also have a few great additions to the team and I was happy to see so many new people on the first day. Our team of 14 girls is the largest we’ve ever had, and we are all looking forward to a great fall season. The first day was also special because it was Kiera’s birthday. After a light social run we went back to Rachel’s house for a cookout and little birthday celebration to start off a great season!

I’m actually now on my way to my camp in Houlton with my family and my best friend Taylor for the rest of the week. So I’ll have to run alone until Sunday, but it will be nice to get away once more before school starts and hopefully we will have some sun! It is crazy how fast time goes by and how cross country freshman year seems like just yesterday. My only thoughts and choices back then were what color spandex I was going to wear to practice, and the flavor of Luna bar I was going to eat after practice. Now that I’m a senior I have many more responsibilities. I want to be someone that the younger girls can look up to and also talk to about running, and anything else they may need. I also have to think about my future and what I’m going to do with myself in less than a year!!

College is a very exciting topic, but it is also scary to think about how quick it has come up in my life. I did go to North and South Carolina last April to look at a few schools that I would potentially like to go to. I really have my heart set on being somewhere where the weather is warmer! As of right now I really haven’t put to much time into the college searching, but once the season starts I’ll be looking forward to going on a few official visits and getting deeper into deciding where I would like to go. I do know that I want to major and exercise science and minor in nutrition; or at least along the lines of those. I look forward to narrowing all my open thoughts about what I would like to do, and where I would like to go.

I hope all seniors are enjoying there own college searching, and are enjoying their last cross country season. I wish everyone great luck with the remainder of pre-season, and I look forward to keeping you all updated though out the fall. I look forward to seeing everyone soon. Best of luck!
