Bangor opens PVC season with a pair of wins
Boys Highlights
Andrew Toothaker (Hampden Acad) was sharp in the 55m hurdles running 8.27 the #2 time in the state
Roy Donnelly (Hampden Acad) was top sprinter winning the 55m (6.92) & 200m (24.37)
Jonathan Stanhope (Bangor) lead a strong mile field, breaking the tape first in 4:42.07, teammate Jon Belanger was a few strides behind in 4:44.43, Stanhope doubled back in the 800 (2:12.87)
David Correale (Bangor) took the 400m in a very fast 52.69 with Orono's Miguel Caballero under 53 seconds as well (52.98)
Dan Curts (Ellsworth) broke 10 minutes in the 2 mile cruising to the win 9:59.94, he winning margin was over 1 min
Hampden Academy took the 4x220yd relay 1:39.53
Miguel Caballero (Orono) lept out to 20-2 to take the long jump
Donald Boyer (Foxcroft Acad) cleared 5-10 to win the high jump
Scott Hogan (Bangor) cleared 11-0 as did 2 others Conor Patrick (Hampden Acad) & Jesiah Harris (Bangor) but won on misses
Girls Highlights
Bangor put in a strong effort to win the 4x800 10:43.51 while Hampden Academy was close 10:47.28
Grace Maclean (Bangor) went under 9 in the hurdles (8.96), cleared the high jump (5-2) & the long jump (16-2) for the triple win
Aleta Looker (Ellsworth) was the top distance runner winning the mile (5:30.29) & the 800m (2:33.03)
Courtney Lizotte (Bangor) cleared 9-0 in the pole vault for the win
