Scarborough girls back on top in SMAA

The Scarborough girls are back on top in the SMAA after an impressive performance that saw them sxcore 189 1/2 to hold off a strong and talented Thornton Academy squad (159), Deering was 3rd with(89). The Red Storm used a strong sprint squad, strong relays, and got an impressive 4 spots in the pole vault to win.  Leading the way for Scarborough was Emily Tolman won who 3 individual events (Sr. Long jump, 600yd & 800m, she also added a 2nd in the 4x800 relay). For Scarborough they got 50 indiviudal points from the Tolman sisters Andrea (2nd-PV, 3rd-400m, 3rd-TJ), & the Kirk sisters (Nicole & Katherine) added 30 more individual points).

Individually Sarah Perkins (Gorham) had a strong meet with 3 individual wins, Perkins cleared 5-2 to take the high jump, won the 55m hurdles in 8.68, & then sprinted her way to the 200m title, running just .01 off her league record, 26.05. Sarah was awared the Angie Abrhams award for outstanding senior performer of the season.

Also standing out was the aforementioned Emily Tolman of Scarborough. Tolman anchored the 2nd place 4x800 squad, which ran under the old SMAA record, she then went on to win the long jump with a seasonal best leap of 16-8 1/2, on the track she used her speed to take the 600yd 1:32.38, she completed an impressive meet with a win in the 800, once again using her speed/strength to hold off Nyajock Pan in 2:26.14
