Top Sophomores XC 2012

Eva Bates of Greely had the fastest time of the Class of 2015. Her 19:23 was on the Deeryfield Park course at the Manchester Invitational where she placed 3rd overall in the small school race. Bates was the top sophomore at the state meet as she was the 14th fastest overall & 4th in Class B. Eva was very consistent as she was 2nd in the WMC, 3rd in the Western Maine Regional, 4th in the Class B state meet, and then 55th in the New England Championship meet.
Gabby Johnson of Massabesic finished the season off with her best running of the season. Johnson helped her team to a runner-up finish in the WM Regional with a 13th place finish. She then went on to run her seasonal best at the Class A state meet of 19:40 to pace 10th, her time was the 15th fastest overall. Gabby was the 2nd best sophomore at the state meet. She concluded her season with a 129th place finish at the NE Championship
Kristina Smith of Poland had a great fall as she was near the front of just about every race. She won 3 races as well. Smith a sophomore had a strong post-season as well that saw her finish 6th in the WMC, 4th in the Western Maine Regional & 5th in the Class B State meet. Her time was the 3rd best of the class of 2015 at the state meet. Kristina closed her season out with a 172nd place finish.
Lily Koffman of Orono was one of top runners of the class of 2015 all year long, which included 3 individual wins. Koffman placed 21st the Festival of Champions. She won the small school race at the PVC Championship, then followed that up with a runner-up finish at the EM Regional & Class C state meets. Lily's time at the state meet ranked her 30th overall.

Isaiah Harris of Lewiston was a pleasant surprise this fall for the Blue Devils. Harris a former MS standout who didn't run freshman year made up for lost time in a hurry as he emerged as the top sophomore in the state by the season's end. Isaiah had his breakput race at the Festival of Champions when he placed 19th running 16:53. He would continue to get better in the championship season as he placed 6th in the KVAC, then had a big day placing 3rd in the EM regional, then finishing it off with a streong 6th at the Class A State meet where he ran a personal best 16:50. Harris closed his year out with another solid effort placing 79th in the NE Championship
Caleb Lord of Hampden Academy had a very good sophomore campaign. Lord placed 28th at the Festival of Champions, then turned it up a notch during the championship season. Caleb placed 8th in the KVAC, then had a monster race to place 4th in the EM Regional, he closed it out with 8th place finish in the Class A State meet. At states Lord ran his personal best 16:55 to finish 16th overall in the combined rankings. He was the 2nd ranked class of 2015, and qualified for the NE Championship where he finished 141st.
Bryce Murdick of Falmouth had an immediate impact for the Yachtsmen when he transferred from Interlakes, NH. Murdick ran #1 for Falmouth almost every race of 2012 helping them to a Class B runner-up trophy at the state meet. Murdick ran 17:00 for his fastest 5k of year at the Festival of Champions placing 27th. Bryce was 8th in the WMC, 11th in the WM Regional, & had one of his best races of the year at the state meet where he was 11th. He ended his 2012 season with an 82nd place finish at the NE meet.
Michael Aboud of Massabesic played a big role in the success of his team in 2012. Aboud showed his talent at the Manchester Invitational where he ran 17:27 to place 33rd, he followed than up with a 17:20 at the Festival of Champions to finish 37th. Then came the championship meets and that's when he took his running to another level. He ran to a surprise 2nd place in the WM Regional helping his team to the WM title, he followed that up with an 11th place at states, which guided his team to the first Boys XC state championship in school history.
