National Signing Day 2013

February 6th is National Signing Day! This is the first day athletes around the country (and world) can make their college commitments official.

Many of the top stars around the country will have official signing ceremonies on National Signing Day, while others may do so in the coming days in weeks. We want to applaud all of our college-bound seniors and celebrate their decisions of where they will spend the next four years.

Who will be the college programs to line up an amazing class to make then national championship contenders over the next years? On National Signing Day the picture starts to become clearer!

Send your signings announcements and signing ceremony photos to Dveilleux@milesplit.com and we will get them posted.

Waterville's Bethanie Brown the state's top female distance runner signed her NLI (National letter of intent) on Friday to attend the University of Connecticut in the fall. Brown will join fellow Maine athletes Emily Durgin & Abby Mace who signed last year to wear the Huskie jersey.

She followed up that strong performance with another record breaking effort at the New Balance Indoor Nationals where she ran 10:29.04 for 2 miles to finish 4th in the nation, earning All-American status

Outdoors Bethanie continued her ascent up the national ladder as she clocked another Maine All-time best of 4:50.39 for 1600m. She won both the 1600m & 3200m at the New England Championship. Brown added another All-time Maine best at 5k during the outdoor national meet as she ran 17:11 to finish 7th.
