Patrick Ciez 6-4 | Scarborough Girls rip 9:50.2 4x800 Derek Veilleux May 20, 2009

  Windham's Patrick Ciez leaped to a new state leader in the HJ on Tuesday at the final regular season meet in the SMAA at Westbrook HS. Ciez cleared 6-4 with plenty of room to spare. He was challeneged by Scarborough's Ross Thomas, who set a new pr jumping 6-2. Ciez had a great afternoon, also jumping a pr 42-11.25 in the triple jump, and winning the long jump with 20-0.5. On the girls side, the Scarborough quartet of Meghan Summerson, Molly O'Connor, Abby Chick & Whitney Chamberlain blazed to a new state leader in the 4x800 with a 9:50.2, highlighted by Chamberlain's 2:18 carry.   Other highlights included a great 400m race between Dan Roukey (Westbrook) & Sam Chick (Scarborough), whihc saw the two battle all the way to line with Roukey maintaining his narrow lead to tape, 51.9 to 52.0. Scarborough's Craig Robinson ran solo, as he clipped off the 3rd fastest 3200 in Class A with his 9:51.7. On the girl's side Scarborough's sprint duo of Rachelle Greene & Nicole Kirk sprint to the 1-2 times in the 200m in Class A. Gorham's Rachel Wilkinson had a strong 8 lapper, running the #2 time in the state this year, 11:24. Freshman Sarah Perkins (Gorham) impressed in the 300 hurdles, clocking the #2 in Class 48.2 in her first attepmt at the event.
