Scarborough Girls dominate/Bonny Eagle-Cheverus Boys tie for SMAA titles May 30, 2009

Scarborough Girls tally 161 to easily outdistance the rest of the SMAA, Cheverus was the runner-up netting 61 points. On the Boys side it was neck and neck between the Scots of Bonny Eagle & the Stags of Cheverus, with Bonny Eagle netting a victory in the 4x400 to even the score. Jamie Rugninski of Bonny Eagle was named Male athlete of the meet, while Kennebunk freshman Abbey Leonardi eaarned the honor of the girls side. Ruginski won three individual events and acnhor the winning 4x400 squad, in the process he set a new SMAA record in the triple jump with his leap of 45-8. Leonardi was equally impressive earning victories in the 1600 & 800, in the 1600 she broke the SMAA record with her 4:59.55, and came back in the 800 to notch another record, running 2:17.68.
