Hathaway smashes Smiling Hill Farm course record 16:17 Derek Veilleux Oct 9, 2009

(Nate Hathaway broke the Smiling Hill Farm course record in his final race on his home course) Scarborough senior Nate Hathaway continued his excellent 2009 XC campaign with another course record run, this time at Scarborough's home course, Smiling Hill Farm. Hathaway took the first mile at a comfortable pace, coming through in 5:28, he gradually picked it up crossing two miles in 10:48, and then the fireworks began as Hathaway closed the last 1.1 miles in an impressive 5:29, as he took 15 seconds off the record set by Ayalew Taye in 2003.   On the girls side Grace Glynn (Thornton Academy) was victorious as she covered the 5k course in 20:06 to edge Ella Ramonas of Deering (20:08) by 2 seconds.   #1 ranked Scarborough took the boys race with 19 to win, while Scarborough girls took down Thornton Academy 31-40.   Full Results
