2010 Paul Brogan Invitational Relay Meet

August 20, 2010 – South Portland High School

We are pleased to invite you and your team to the inaugural running of the Paul Brogan Invitational Relay Meet.  This meet will be a great early season check in to see the progress your athletes have made over the summer, as well as a fun way to end the first week of preseason.  


MEET INFORMATION

Course

The course is located at South Portland High School, on an abridged version of the home course that has been run for over 35 years.  The course starts and finishes in the football stadium and the entire run can be seen from the bleachers.  It is a moderately hilly course that is run mainly on grass, but does include brief periods of asphalt, and does finish on the track.

Format

We will be running 5 seeded races for each gender, alternating boys and girls races.  These 10 times will be combined to compute the team standings.  The starts for the races will be staggered, but there will be multiple races on the course at the same time.  We will be using the time schedule listed below.

These races will be followed by a Freshmen and Unseeded race for each gender.  Team scores will not be computed for these races, but individual times will be recorded.

Order of Events

2:30 PM – Course walk, Packet pick-up

3:30 PM – Boys #1 Race
3:32 PM – Girls #1 Race
3:42 PM – Boys #2 Race
3:44 PM – Girls #2 Race
3:54 PM – Boys #3 Race
3:56 PM – Girls #3 Race
4:06 PM – Boys #4 Race
4:08 PM – Girls #4 Race
4:18 PM – Boys #5 Race
4:20 PM – Girls #5 Race
4:30 PM – Boys Freshmen Race
4:45 PM – Girls Freshman Race
5:00 PM – Boys Unseeded Race
5:15 PM – Girls Unseeded Race

Note: Teams should report to the start area 10 minutes before the above times for check in



Awards

A trophy will be awarded to the team with the lowest combined time for the 10 seeded races. T-shirts will be presented to the top 10 overall boys and girls in the seeded races, the top 5 boys and girls in the unseeded races, and the top 5 boys and girls in the freshman races.  Additionally, t-shirts will be awarded to any member of the winning team who ran in a seeded race and did not finish in the top 10. 

Entry Fee

The entry fee for the meet is $40 per school.  We use this to pay for officials and purchase awards.  Make checks payable to SPHS XC Boosters. Checks may be brought to the meet or sent in advance.  Checks can be mailed to: Andrew Lupien, 85 Washington Avenue, South Portland, Maine, 04106.
