The competition was excellent in the SMAA girls meet @ Kennebunk this afternoon with teams from Thornton Academy, Biddeford, Bonny Eagle & Kennebunk going against eachother. The Thornton Academy girls took top honors socring 92, with Bonny Eagle in 2nd with 78, Kennebunk took 3rd with Biddeford in 4th. There were 3 National elite performances, which were all state leaders. In the 1600m Abbey Leonardi (Kennbunk) running her first mile of the season opened with a 5:01.59. In the Javelin, the UNH bound Keila Grigware (Biddeford) launched the it out to 117-3, while her future teammate Abby Huntress (Thornton) launched another personal best in the discus with her huge 119-0 launch. Additonally Shelby Strickland (Kennebunk) notched a new state leader in the HJ with a 5-2 clearance. For more highlights and results click the headline.
