Hampden Boys | Old Town Girls win titles @ MDI, Leithiser 39.83 300m hurdles Derek Veilleux May 1, 2011

The Hampden Academy boys showed off very good overall team depth to win the MDI Relays as they racked up 132, while runner-up Brewer amassed 97. Hampden won the 4x100 Shot Put relay, while Andrew Toothaker took the 110m hurdles.  Meet Records were set on the boys side in the 4x100 SP relay (48.52), the 300m Hurdles where Old Town's Jake Leithiser broke the 40 second barrier with his impressive 39.83, this all despite learning this week he has been competing with a torn hip muscle, his teammate Jacob St. Peter equalled the 200m record 23.56. On the girls side Old Town held off strong challenges from Caribou & Brewer to claim the team title. The Coyotes tallied 135 1/3 points, with Caribou the runner-up with 119, Brewer was 3rd 115 1/3. Old Town got wins in the mile from MIT bound senior Dacie Manion, who is running outdoor track for the first time this spring, Kayla Brooks in the 100m hurdles, Alexa Dufour in the 300m hurdles, won the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 & 4x100m Shot Put relays, the long & triple  jump relay, & shot put relay. Caribou's Emily Soderberg broke the 1600m racewalk record by close to 33 seconds with her 8:03.68. For more highlights click the headline.
