Bangor Girls & Brewer Boys PVC Large School winners: Teal Jackson 58.64! Derek Veilleux May 28, 2011

The Bangor girls held off a strong challenge from Old Town to win the PVC Large School Championship meet on Saturday. The lady rams scored 137 to the 133 totaled by the Coyotes of Old Town. Teal Jackson (Brewer) won 3 individual events 100m, 200m, & 400m to win the "Outstanding Girls Performer of the Meet", Jackson ripped a new state leader & PVC record in the 400m, 58.64. On the boys side Brewer took the team title with 121 with Old Town taking runner-up honors. old Town's Jake Leithiser was named "Outstanding Boys Performer of the Meet", Jake won 3 individual events & placed 2nd in another, his 300m hurdle time of 39.33 set a PVC record. Also breaking a PVC record was Tristan Wortman (Brewer) in the pole vault with his 13-3 clearance. To check out the rest of the action click the headline.

Roughly a month of postseason play in high school sports kicks off this weekend, as Penobscot Valley Conference track and field teams will battle for conference supremacy.
