The last SMAA regular season meets were contested today, and the performances across the board didn't disappoint. Highlighting the action was Michael Cuesta's Sr Triple Jump record 43-1 1/4, James Ociti's 50.47 Sr 400m record, & Kialeigh Marston of Bonny Eagle's 60.63, Jr. 400m record. Other highlights included a state leading 6-4 high jump from Austin Weigle of Kennebunk, & a 1:33.98 4x200 from the Scarborough boys. Check out the action

Bonny Eagle sophomore Kialeigh Marston won the girls individual title in her first xc season as she crossed the line in 19:34.16. On the boys side Mt Blue senior Josh Horne ran unchallenged throughout to secure the victory. With Marston's win the Bonny Eagle girls repeated as team champions 82-100 over Massabesic. On the boys side Lewiston dominated the team race as the Blue Devils won the 2nd title in school history with a 51-94 vcitory over Scarborough

Cadorette & Marston tops at SMAA Relays Derek Veilleux Sep 5, 2013

The SMAA xc season got underway with the annual relay meet at Thornton Academy on Thursday. The varsity boys had 7 individual races, while the girls varsity race consisted of 5 races. Ryan Cadorette of TA was the fastest boy winning section 1 in 8:29, it was his first ever xc meet. On the girls side Kialeigh Marston topped the rest of the field in race covering the 1.65 mile courrse in 9:41. Check out more.

The Jack Wilkinson Invitational was held at the new trails at Narragansett School in Gorham this afternoon. Gorham's Jesse Southard dominated the boys race, as he set the course record with a 16:51 for 5k. On the girls side Bonny Eagle's mary Szatkowski took the win as she set the girls course record with a 20:43. Gorham boys took the win, while Bonny Eagle girls prevailed as well.

Bonny Eagle Girls & Scarborough Boys win SMAA titles Derek Veilleux May 27, 2013

The Bonny Eagle Scot girls rolled to the girl SMAA Southwestern title, as they scored an impressive 122 to easily outdistance runner-up Thornton Academy who scored 62. On the boys side Scarborough won it's first SMAA Outdoor since they have been in Class A, the Red Storm tallied 130 points to defeat runner-up Cheverus (81). Check out more action.

Scarborough's Robert Hall cruised to win in the Westbrook-Gorham Rotary 2.14 mile race this morning, Hall a senior clocked 10:50 to easily take the win. On the girls side Samantha Cox of Bonny Eagle pulled away from her teammate Kialeigh Marston to claim the girls title in 12:39. Scarbrough Boys & Bonny Eagle girl won the team titles. Massabesic Boys put on a dominating performance for the ages to capture the Western Class A title. George Morrison of Massabesic was the surprise winner on the boys side in 17:29. Scarborough boys & Bonny Eagle girls tops at SMAA Relays Derek Veilleux Aug 30, 2012

Ben Allen of Portland HS was the top male runner covering the 1.6 mile course in 8:39, on the girls side Charlotte Pierce of the host team Thornton Academy was dominate in her victory as she clocked 9:38. The 2x time defending Class A champions Scarborough were the top boys team while up and coming Bonny Eagle was the best on the girls side. Check out more...

Now that summer is in full swing, and teams have started training for the 2012 XC season, let's take a sneak peek at some track stats that may give us an indication of some teams to watch this fall. Take a look at the top returning high school teams in Maine for cross country based on 1600 meter season best times from the 2012 outdoor season as a virtually scored cross country meet through 7 runners.

Perkins 26.59 state leader in 200m, Gorham 4x200 1:36.11, BE 10:21.7 4x800 Derek Veilleux Jan 4, 2012

Sarah Perkins of Gorham continued her string of impressive races with a new state leading time in the 200m of 26.59 today during the SMAA regular season meet @ USM. For Perkins this was an indoor personal best, & the only sub 27 clocking in the state. Perkins currently holds state leader at 55m hurdles, 200M, & HJ as well as the Class A leader for 55m. Bonny Eagle Sweeps Class A titles: 5 Girls State Records!!! Derek Veilleux Jun 6, 2011

The Bonny Eagle Scots swept the Class A titles @ Windham HS on Saturday. Each team's victory was in doubt until the final event was over, the boys entered the 4x400 down 2 points to Edward Little. The Scots seeded #1 in the event ended up 3rd which gave them the state title by 4 points. This avenge a lost to Thornton Academy the last time the state meet was held at Windham in 2008 by 1 point. The Scots were led by triple jump winner Tyson Goodale who posted a team high 21.5 individual points. On the girls side the lady Scots avenged a loss to Scarborough at the indoor state meet by turning the tables on the Red Storm. Bonny Eagle entered the final relay ahead by 6, and ran very well to finish right behind Scarborough to seal the state title win by 4 points. Leading the way was the Dostie twins who scored 42 individual points together not including relay points. It was a record breaking day on the girls side as 5 new state meet records were set. Keila Grigware (Biddeford) broke the record in the javelin throwing 131-10. Maria Curit (Biddeford) broke a 22 year old record in the long jump with her 18-1 3/4, the mark is just off the All-time state best. Scarborough sprinter Nicole Kirk rolled to a new record in the 200m 25.49, holding off a strong effort from Peyton Dostie, who was also under the old record with her 25.60. Dostie did get a record though in the 300m hurdles where she ran 44.67, taking down Jesse Labreck's 4 year old record. The final record was broken in the 4x100, where the Scarborough team of Morgan Rodway, Emilia Scheemaker, Andrea Tolman, & Nicole Kirk broke the 50 seconds barrier running 49.65. Bonny Eagle girls edge Windham by 1 point | Scarborough boys dominate again @ Smiling Hill Derek Veilleux Oct 14, 2010

 The #7 ranked Bonny Eagle girls edged the #8 ranked Windham Eagles at Smling Hill Farm in Scarborough this afternoon. The Scots had the fire power up front placing 2-3-4, with Samantha Cox leading the way with a 20:17. Winhdam took the next 4 spots 5-6-7-8 to close the gap with Erin Flately leading the way in 20:36, but BE's #4 runner Kristen Glennie raced to a 10th place finish to give the Scots the 19-26 through 4 runners. Windham would have runners 5-6-7 finish in the 15th-17th spots to give Windham a score of 41, BE's #5 runner held off a Scarborough runner by less than .3 seconds for 21st, the result a 40-41 win for the Scots. Individually Gorham's Mia Rapolla raced to a convincing 41 second victory, clocking 19:36 over the 5k course. On the boys side #1 Scarborough dominated once again, this time scoring 19 points to defeat #7 Gorham, who ran without #1 runner Logan Marshall. For the Red Storm, Nick Morris 16:56 lead a 1-2-3 finish, as Scarborough had 6 of the top 9 finishers on the day. RESULTS

(Taylor Dundas (Cheverus) held off teammate Jack Terwilliger (Cheverus) for the win) The 10th annual Jack Wilkinson Memorial XC meet was held at St. Joe college in Standish this afternoon. Emily Durgin (Cheverus) captures the girls race in her first race as a Cheverus Stag, running to a course record 19:21. Durgin sets another CR-18:43/ Belanger takes the boys race in 17:22 Derek Veilleux Sep 12, 2008

Freshman Emily Durgin turned in another record breaking performance on her home course at Bonny Eagle HS this afternoon, running 18:43 over the 5k course to win by 49 seconds over Vickie Hewey (Sanford). Durgin's run led her team to the 31-38 victory over Thornton Academy. On the boys side, there was a great two man duel for the win between Tim Belanger (BE) & Tom Letourneau (TA), Belanger pulled ahead once they hit the track for the last 200m to win by 8 seconds, in 17:22. Thornton Academy easily won the team competition, placing 5 guys in the top 10.

Freshman Abbey Leonardi (Kennebunk) broke the SMAA Relay record with a 8:45 over th 1.6 mile course, she took 2 seconds from the previous record held by Erica Jesseman (Scarborough) who is now a top runner at UNH. Nate Hathaway (Scarborough) took control of the boys race at 800m and never relented as he took the race with a 7:56 clocking. Scarborough Boys showed great depth as they took the team title, while the Scarborough girls pulled it out in the 5th race as Erin McElwain proved the difference.  

9th Annual Jack Wilkinson Memorial XC Race Recap Derek Veilleux Aug 28, 2008

Freshman sensation Emily Durgin (Bonny Eagle) didn't disappoint in her first HS 5k of her career as she blazed to victory at the 9th annual Jack Wilkinson Memorial XC race held at Cheverus HS with an time of 19:09!!!!! Yes 19:09 that's not a misprint. Her win led the Bonny Eagle Scots to a team victory as well. On the boys side, Taylor Dundas (Jr. Cheverus) led wire-to-wire with a 17:21, which led the Stags to a team victory
