Class C had the final races of the day, and the boys race was over just 800m into the race as defending Class C state champion Henry Spritz put the hammer down and never was challenged. Spritz would go on to stop the clock at 17:40.4, to score a winning margin of 23 seconds over Maranacook's Luke Bartol.
"Today wasn't a typical race for me." commented Spritz post race. "I usually run with the guys in the lead pack, and then make a move later on."
From the gun Spritz pushed the pace opening up a gap by the 800m mark before entering the "A" loop.
"I'm comfortable running here at Twin Brook, I know the course, I run here a lot."
By the mile mark covered by Spritz in a speedy 5:10 his lead had grown to nine seconds. Before entering the "A" he continued to extend his cushion as it had grown to 13 seconds.
The fast early pace started to take it's toll in the tough final mile but he had down enough early on to secure the victory, and used his strength to extend his lead over the final mile, crossing the line in 17:40.4.
Bartol of Maranacook would secure the runner-up finish with his 18:03.82. He was followed by Lisbon's David Schlotterbeck who kicked hard to nab third with a. 18:16.10 effort.
Junior Mark D'Alessandro of St. Dom's was next in 18:18.01, and the two seconds back was sophomore Matinicus Neveu (18:20.01).
Boohtbay/Wiscasset got it's first stick with a fifth place finish from junior Will Perkins (18:22.25), following him was senior Gabe Fein of Maranacook in a time of 18:24.07.
William Levasseur a sophomore from St Dom's ran 18:29.28 for eighth, and then it was another sophomore Blaine Wilkins of Dirigo who punched his ticket to states in 18:34.24
Rounding out the top ten individuals was Aiden Kusche a junior from Maine Coast Waldorf (18:46.49).
Maine Coast Waldorf captured the team title as they tallied 70 points to finish 14 points in front of the Black Bears of Maranacook. Maine Coast was led by the fifth place finish of sophomore Matinicus Neveu.

The final race of the day saw the always smiling Olivia Reynolds of Maine Coast Waldorf floating over the terrain at Twin Brook en route to a 20:15.78 performance. Her winning time has the largest margin of victory on the day, an impressive 1 minute. Maranacook's Molly McGrail secured the runner-up spot with her 21:15.
Reynolds commented after the race that her plan was to "Run a strong race and work on maintaining a steady pace so that I wouldn't be surrounded with other runners."
She did just that opening up a seven second lead at the mile, as she charged put of the woods with a smile beaming across her face.
After 2 miles the gap had widened to over 30 seconds, and Reynolds was well within herself, even saying "Thank you" to a bystander who had congratulated her.
She would fly over the tough last mile extending her lead to a minute by the finish as she crossed in 20:15.78, just off her winning time at the Class C state meet a year ago.
McGrail would hold second place throughout the race as the multi-talented runner clocked 21:15.17. Next was sophomore Kiara Audette of Traip Academy who ran a great race to grab third place in 21:28.94.
Next was senior Faith Blethen of Boothbay/Wiscasset, the senior ran 21:33.41. Blethen twice won the regional back in 2015 & 2016. She'll be trading in her spikes for the hardwood next fall as she is going to be playing basketball at George Washington.
Maranacook sophomore Sophie O'Clair was fifth with a 21:49.26 effort, she was followed by Traip senior Jennifer Clifford who clocked 22:34.41.
Next came Glory Blethen of Boothbay/Wiscasset, the sister of Faith she earned a seventh place finish in 22:44.72. Freshman Blythe Thompson of Wyanflete was next in eighth with a 22:49.06.
Mamie Whittier of Maine Coast Waldorf finished ninth covering the 3.1 mile course in 22:57.83, while Anna Wildes a junior from Waynflete rounded out the top 10 in 22:58.59.
The Black Bears of Maranacook used a great last mile to overtake Maine Coast Waldorf to win the team title as they tallied 50 points to win by a mere four points.
Molly McGrail's runner-up finish led the charge for Maranacook as they avereaged 22:38 on the layout at Twin Brook. They placed six runners in the top 18 finishers and impressive run.
Maine Coast was close behind the win from Reynolds, and four runners in the top 14.
The two will square off again in the Class C state meet in Belfast in what should be a great race when you add in defending state champion Orono.
Waynflete was third with 96 points, followed by Monmouth Academy with 123 & Traip Academy 125. All five schools will advance to the state meet next week.
