MRC Performance of the Week: Kirstin Sandreuter & Joe Holt

Greely senior Kirstin Sandreuter hadn't competed in 3 plus weeks, but the diminitive runner returned in a big way at the Western Class B regional last weekend. Sandreuter took off from the gun and dominated the race clocking 19:02 for the challenging 5k. Her time was the fastest time on the day, and gave her a margin of victory of 1:20. Maybe the most important thing was the way Kirstin felt after the race, as she said she felt great. Heading into the state meet this weekend on the same course Sandreuter will enter as the favotite to win her first individual xc state title.

Josef Holt of Telstar has been the best runner in the state this fall, Holt showed why on Saturday as he cruised to the Western Class C regional title. Holt covered the course in 15:54, the only runner in western maine to do so, and 21 seconds faster than the next best overall. Josef ran in control seemingly cruising at 5:04 mile pace throughout the course. His race was effortless, he crossed the line 1:19 before the next runner would finish. No question Josef will be the heavy favorite to win his first individual xc title this weekend.

Congratulations to both Kirstin & Josef on being selected as the Maine Running Company Performance of the Week
