Hello all! Welcome back from spring break! I hope everyone took some time to relax, catch some rays, and get refocused for these last few weeks of school! My spring break was extremely refreshing and eye opening. If you read my last blog you will know that I spent the week in Costa Rica on an Outward Bound adventure! For the first four days we were backpacking through the rainforest, camping out, visiting families that live in the rain forest, spotting sloths and monkeys, swimming in waterfalls, and hiking a lot. It was so fun. For the next four days, we went back to society and spent a couple days at the beach–getting very burnt after being sheltered from the canopy of the rainforest–and relaxing after hiking about thirty miles total. The most amazing thing about this trip was the separation from technology and the absence of a routine. We woke up when the sun rose, we planned our day according to the weather, and we went to sleep when the sun went down. It was so liberating to not feel dependent on others outside of our group of fifteen; nothing going on outside of our group affected us, and not having any phones was relieving.

Returning to a normal routine was difficult as first, but I have adapted. The one thing I wish I could have done on this trip was run, but at the same time it felt good to take a break from everything that normally makes up my normal day! The meet we had in Kennebunk last week was a rude awakening to all my running muscles, and my times reflect that! I’m sure my fitness will spring back after a couple weeks of solid workouts, and I’ll be ready for the big meets. I am very excited to watch my team–both the boys and the girls–work hard and kill it on the track! And seniors~remember to give it all you got... graduation is about a month away... let’s get after it!

Pura Vida! ~Heather
