A pair of sophomores have been selected for the MaineTrackXC Performance of the Week in Week #3, Cony's Anne Guadalupi was the girls selection while Windham's Ben Breton was slected on the boys side.
Guadalupi had a personal best 18:59 performance for 5k as she won a nine team KVAC meet at Lawrence. Her winning was 7 second better than runner-up Tessa Cassidy, and was the fastest ever time run of the xc course at Lawrence, breaking Abby Mace's 19:17.84 time from 2012. Anne has now won her last 2 races, and is one of the top runners in the state this fall. Currently Anne is ranked #3 in the MaineTrackXC Watchlist. Out of the 145 votes that were cast this week Guadalupi garnered 68, or 46.9% of the vote.
On the boys side, Windham's Ben Breton won the SMAA meet held at South Portland last Friday as he covered the 2.89 mile course in 16:17 to win by 41 seconds. The time was a new course record as he eclipsed the 17:07 effort of Yahya Hussein run in the pre-season. Breton is off to a strong start this fall as he looks to improve on his strong freshman campaign from a year ago. the voting was heavy this week with 168 total votes cast, Breton received 74, or 44.05%
