Falmouth's Jeremiah Sands game plan was to sit back and let the others to the work

"I didn't plan to take the lead but I did just before the mile" the senior said after the race.

Once Sands took over the lead he never relinquished it as he went on to clock the 6th fastest time in course history at St Joe's with his winning 16:37 effort.

Sands held off a strong run from Freeport senior Henry Jaques who finished in 16:44.

Jacques wasn't concern with not winning, "My total focus is on states."

The duo of John Auer & Connor Piers continued to impressive for the Yachstmen as they nabbed places 3 & 4 in the D1 race, Auer running 17:16, followed by a 17:18 from his teammate Piers.

Freeport Yacob Olins rounded out the top 5 finisher as he ran 17:39.

Falmouth sophomore Malaika Pasch had never raced at the St Joe's course but it didn't take long for her to seize control and dominate the race.

Without the Greely & Yarmouth varsity runners in the race it was the Pasch show, and she didn't disappoint as she set a new course record with her 19:11 winning effort.

Pasch was never seriously challenged in the race, and felt good about how she closed out the race in the final mile.

Kennebunk's Louise Hollway had a great race to finish as the runner-up, Hollway a senior ran the 4th fastest time on the St Joe's course with her 19:34 effort.

York junior Kathryn Miller also broke the 20 minute barrier as she finished in 19:48, that time matched the 6th fastest in course history.

Fryeburg junior Emily Carty was next across the line in fourth place in 20:23, she was followed by York Junior Grace Reynolds who ran 20:38.

York with 3 in the top 9 took the team title with 47, Falmouth was next at 58 with Cape just 4 points back with 62 in third.
