Hey everyone, guess who's back!
At last, the postseason is here! It's finally time to start tapering up to run some PRs! It's always amazing to me how this time of the year seems almost like a completely different season to what has happened so far. The focus changes from training hard and racing on tired legs each week to resting up a little bit more to run some fast new personal bests! It's like everything that has happened so far this season has just been leading up now when we really want to be running at peak performance.
For myself, Festival of Champions a couple weeks ago was a big confidence booster. For the many things I want to accomplish this season and this year, I'd say that Festival definitely proved to myself that I'm perfectly capable of achieving them. I'm pleased that all of my hard work over the summer and fall has allowed me to propel myself in training and racing. As we get closer and closer to the state championship, I'm feeling very confident in my abilities.
Above all, this cross-country season has so far shown me that Maine not only has some great upperclassmen athletes, but that we have lots of great rising talent amongst the youngins in the frosh and soph classes. I'm pleased to know that the Maine track and cross-country community is gearing up for a great couple of years.
Good luck these next couple of weeks! I'm excited to see what we can do!
