All-Time Maine Boys Long Jump Programs

All-Time Long Jump Programs

We've been working to expand our vast results database this summer adding in several state championship meets dating back to 1996, and the plan is to continue throughout the summer.  While we don't have every team's top athletes of all-time we wanted to take a look at the data we had to see what programs (schools) had the top performers in every track and field event outdoors.

We scored each team just like a cross-country meet, giving 1 point for the fastest time and so on. A program's score is based on the top five performers in the event with the top 7 athletes acting as displacers.

Today we are going to take a look at the boy's long jump. Below are the top five programs based on the results we currently have in the database. For the complete list of 99 teams visit the link below

COMPLETE LIST

South Portland High School has established itself as the top long jump program in state history, and it's not even close. The Red Riots are led by Jesse Ludwig's 23-0 effort, the third-best jump in state history. Behind him, Nathan Thompson jumped 22-9 1/2 the fourth-best effort in state history, while Michael Cuesta's 22-5 effort ranks 10th best in state history. In order to make the top five at South Portland, you would have to jump further than 21-7 3/4, and that marks is better than the second-ranked programs number two jumper.

The Dragons of Brunswick rank second with all five scoring jumpers over 21 feet. Bret McIntire leads the way with a 22-5 1/4 personal best which ranks ninth-best in state history. More recently Seth White leaped 21-7 1/2 for the Dragons.

Bonny Eagle currently ranks as the third-best program behind Jamie Ruginski's 22-5 effort which is tied for tenth-best all-time. They have three jumpers over 21 feet with the most recent being Zack Allocca's 21-1 leap.

The Wildcats of York are the fourth-best long jump program in state history led by Jake Martin's 21-5 1/2 personal best. York has four athletes that have jumped over 21 feet.

Thornton Academy rounds of the top five programs as the Golden Trojan have had three jumpers over 21 feet led by Longhao Chen's 21-9 1/4 effort.
