Erin McCarthy of Bangor has the fastest 5k time in the KVAC this fall.
The KVAC Championship state qualifier will be split into two races with the KVAC South Boys (Brunswick, Mt Ararat, Messalonskee, Cony, Lewiston & Edward Little), and KVAC North Boys (Bangor, Brewer, Camden Hills, Hampden Academy, Mt Blue, Oxford Hills, Skowhegan). After both races are complete the results will be merged to determine the four teams and two individuals that will advance to the Class A state meet.
Bangor is the top-ranked team in the conference, the Rams currently rank fourth in the latest Maine MileSplit team poll. The Dragons of Brunswick are the eighth-ranked squad. Camden Hills, Mt Ararat, and Mt Blue will contend for the final team spot. This will be Mt Blue's first official race of the season as they just got school board approval to compete last week.
