The PVC Championship descended on Saxl Park in Bangor on Saturday to see who was the best in the conference but more importantly for some who would advance to the Class B state meet in November. With the meet being held on the same course as states it also provided a preview for those harriers that advanced.
In the boy's individual race Maine MileSplit #10 Jordan Duplissie held off a strong effort from senior Ponce Saltysiak of Mt Desert Island to capture the individual title in a time of 16:37.96 while Saltysiak clocked 16:42.47.
Behind them senior Dylan Fowler of Hermon placed third in 17:03.01 he was followed by senior Cody Parker of Mt Desert Island who ran 17:07.29. Rounding out the top five was another Trojan from MDI, sophomore Sam York.
Advancing to states as individuals were the Old Town duo of freshman Ethan Roach and junior Phillip Alyokhin.
Mt Desert Island on the strength of three of the top five and four of the top nine finishers won the team title with 33 points. The Trojans averaged 17:32.42 for their five scoring runners. Caribou placed second with 45, while Hermon with 77 was third. All three teams will advance to the Class B state meet.
