Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Nate Driscoll will be a key runner for the Red Storm this fall.

2022 Outlook: The Red Storm enter 2022 as a force to be reckoned with in Class A. They lose legend Zach Barry from their 2021 squad, but the rest of the top 7 remains. Adam Bendetson will look to do his best Barry impression for Scarborough, and he is a legit individual title threat after running 9:31 for 3200m and finishing 3^rd in Class A over 3200m. Nate Driscoll and Joseph Cotta also bring good senior leadership and come off of solid track seasons. Behind them is a pack of underclassmen that will be hungry to improve and keep the scoring low for the Red Storm. While they aren't a favorite this year, this perennial powerhouse will definitely be looking to add some hardware once October rolls around.
