When and how did you get into track and field?

I started track back in 6th grade and I mainly did it to stay in shape for soccer and basketball it was also the only sport available for 6th graders at my school in the spring.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My teammates both older and younger have been my biggest competitions.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment is qualifying for Nike Nationals my senior year and competing in 2 events with one being a state record.

How has track and field impacted your life?

Track has taught me organization, leadership, friendship, time management and how to manage stress. Most of all I have lifelong relationships from my team and also other schools.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was getting septic bursitis during my championship season my junior year and then I went on to compete in the state championship on the 4 x 100 relay to help my team get gold.

How do you prepare for competitions?

I prepare for competitions by going through the race or jumps in my head numerous times before I compete and I also make sure to have a very bland but filling meal a couple hours before hand.

What influence has your coach had on your high school career?

My coaches had one of the greatest impacts on my track in high school career as she has been my coach since the sixth grade and up through high school. She has taught me everything I have needed to know in the track world and I get to carry it on to the higher level.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of track and field?

I enjoy going hiking and I recently picked up disc golf. Along with all other teenagers in Maine I enjoy going to the beach and getting food with friends.


What are your college plans?

I plan to study chemical engineering at the University of Maine at Orono and compete in track and field.

What are your long-term goals?

My long-term goal is to be a project manager of something that has to do with materialistic sustainability and completing this in Maine.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to both my parents and especially my mom who came on every college visit with me for track and made sure to never miss a meet my senior year.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

If I could go back in time and give my younger self advice for track, I would say try more events that you're uncomfortable with and never be afraid to ask questions to the upperclassman. Treat every race like it might be your last.
