2023 Outlook

Bapst had a strong 2022 campaign that saw them win the PVC Class B title and the Class B Northern Maine Regional title. They finished fourth at the state meet and will be looking to move up to hopefully a podium finish in 2023. With six of the top seven back from last year's squad things are looking promising for the Crusaders. Leading the way is Ethan Roach who was the regional runner-up, and placed seventh in the Class B state meet. Griffin Merrill was fourth at the regional a year ago and will be looking to finish stronger at the state meet this fall. Newcomer Beckham Rand could be a top candidate to join the varsity squad and make an immediate impact.

Coach Tyler Parson's Comments

Summer training went really well... all the boys were consistently getting out not long after track ended and averaging 40-mile weeks. They got a taste of success last year and I think it really motivated them this summer to be even better than they were. Jon, Henry, Gilman, Jed, and Griffin have been racking up the miles this summer in a really healthy and sustainable way so I wanted to give them a shoutout since they don't get the headlines Ethan has.

This year we are hoping to be more in the conversation for the state title. Southern Maine has had a grip on Class B for a long time now but if all goes well I think we have a chance to at least be in the mix. I know MDI will want to take back the top spot in the north and Ellsworth is on the rise with Noah rising from middle school so we have to get past them first. Nothing is ever guaranteed which is what makes this all so exciting.
