2023 Outlook
Lincoln Academy had an excellent 2022 season that saw them tie for the Southern Regional title, however, they had to take home the runner-up trophy on the tie-breaker. They went on to finish second in the state meet as well bringing home the hardware, The Eagles return the entire team that ran in states this fall so the expectations are high. Lead by Audrey Hufnagel who was eighth last fall. Burmeister and Hall give Lincoln Academy a strong duo, they were 15th and 16th at states a year ago. Madeline Kallin was the fourth runner a year ago but has the potential to move up, she had a great outdoor track season that saw her finish fifth in the 3200m at states. All the pieces are there for the Eagles to make another state title run this fall.
Coach Garrett Martin's Comments
Considering the myriad obligations that team members had this summer including holding down multiple jobs, family vacations, and more, they've done a solid job putting in the miles and positioning themselves for continued improvement.
As a team, our primary focus is on doing the work to improve one day at a time and lifting each other in practice and competition. We're certainly motivated by the prospect of mixing it up with some of the top teams in the state and hope this year's state meet sees everyone competing at their best. We know it will be highly competitive with as many five or six teams having a legitimate shot to win on any given day.
