2023 Outlook

Brunswick is coming off a win at the Class A outdoor track meet and will look to carry that momentum over to the 2023 cross-country season. The Dragons had a tough finish to the 2022 XC season as they finished eighth at the state meet. Five runners are back from the state meet squad this fall led by senior Ben Klingle. Klingle has opened his season with a couple of victories and will be counted on for a low stick. Watch for junior Ryan McPherson who is ready for a breakout season, he clocked 4:37 on the track for 1600m. Marshall Wall already showed he's ready to contribute as he dropped his 5k best at the opening race by over a minute. The Dragons were a young squad a year ago, and with the experience gained from 2022, they are primed for another run at the best in Class A this fall.

Coach Dan Dearing's Comments

We had a lot of enthusiasm for summer training from our distance runners coming off the outdoor track KVAC and State Championships. We had several optional cross-country time trials during the summer and I was very happy to see the runners having fun at several distances. My expectations are to have the runners improve throughout the season and be at their best for their championship races.
