Libby pulled off the upset to win the Class B state title a year ago. Carter won't sneak up on anyone this year but he's early-season fitness shows he's ready for a title defense. Libby ran 16:21.50 5k personal best last year and will look for him to take a shot at sub 16 this fall. On the track outdoor Libby clocked 4:22.03 for 1600m and 9:53..91 for 3200m. He placed second in the 1600m at states, and third in the 3200m at the Class B state meet. Carter has opened his 2023 season with a pair of wins and will be looking to repeat his postseason from 2022.
