South Portland Dominates at the 2024 SMAA Southwestern Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship

The 2024 SMAA Southwestern Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship was a showcase of exceptional talent and remarkable record-breaking performances. South Portland emerged as the Boys' Team Champion, securing victory with an impressive total of 129 points as they continue to be the team to beat heading into next week's Class A state meet. Gorham claimed the runner-up position with 90 points

Andre Clark of Marshwood stunned the crowd with his lightning speed in the 100m event, setting a new state all-time record with a remarkable time of 10.69 seconds in the prelims before lowering it to 10.62 in the finals. The time surpassed the former record of 10.71 set by Jarret Flaker of Scarborough at the 2019 Southwestern Championship.


South Portland standout Arnaud Sioho put on a show as he shattered two league records in the jumps. Sioho leaped out to 23-7 3/4 to win the long jump, surpassing the former league record of 23-0 3/4 set back in 2022 by Frank Morang of Cheverus. Sioho was even better in the triple jump where he soared out to 47-6 3/4 to shatter the 45-9 1/4 set by former Red Riot Ruay Bol back in 2016. Both marks move the junior to the number two performer in state history in each event. Sioho showcased his versatility and skill in the hurdles events, securing victories in both the 110m hurdles (14.60) and the 300m hurdles (38.94). His 40 points were instrumental in South Portland's success at the championship.

Gorham's Nolan Feyler scorched the 400m dash as the senior clocked the third fastest time in state history and smashed the conference record with his 48.34 winning effort. The mark broke the 49.08 standard set by former Ram Andrew Farr in 2022.

Nathan Blades of Portland won the 1600m race in a new state-leading effort of 4:19.73. Maddox Jordan of Noble ran the 400m first clocking a personal best and Noble school record with his 50.95, he doubled back in the 800 and used his fierce kick to secure victory with a swift time of 1:56.62 over Blades of Portland. Xavier Lemieux of Bonny Eagle used his speed over the final 400m to win the 3200m race in a new Scots school record and state-leading time of 9:33.79.


Tucker Walker of Sanford was the top thrower as he won the shot put (51-2) and discus (153-4)  Nick Farrington of Sanford showcased his throwing prowess in the javelin securing victory with a new state-leading throw of 180 feet 6 inches.

Bonny Eagle won the 4x100m relay with a time of 43.83 seconds, while Gorham closed the meet out in the 4x400m relay, claiming victory with a time of 3:31.75. Scarborough started off the meet with a state-leading 8:07.92 effort in the 4x800m relay.

Griffin Gammon of Gorham impressed in the High Jump securing victory with a height of 6 feet 6 inches despite jumping in the dark, while Carter Engleman of Windham set a new personal best of 13-7 in the pole vault.  Rowan McDonald of Bonny Eagle dominated the 1600m Race Walk, securing victory with a time of 7:08.39.

Scarborough Secures Victory at the 2024 SMAA Southwestern Girls Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Scarborough emerged as the Girls' Team Champion, securing victory with a total of 127 points. Falmouth claimed the runner-up position with 93 points holding off Windham and Portland.

Emerson Flaker of Scarborough stole the spotlight with her exceptional speed in the sprint events. She dominated the 100m (12.29), 200m (25.42), and 400m(57.62) races. Flaker set personal bests in both the 100m and 200m races and broke the conference record in the 400m. She also won the track athlete of the year for the conference.


Samantha Moore of Portland set a new conference record in the 800m as she clocked a personal best of 2:14.44, her time is the fastest in the state this outdoor season. Moore broke the 14-year-old record of Kennebunk's Abbey Leonardi (2:16.70). Laurel Driscoll of Scarborough cruised to the victory in the 1600m  with a time of 4:59.99 while Bonny Eagle senior Addy Thibodeau ran a personal best 11:11.79 to win the 3200m.

Tayla Pelletier of Windham secured victories in both the 100m hurdles (15.29) and the 300m hurdles (46.38). She would add a third victory with a 37-2 1/4 leap in the triple jump.

Ruby Prentiss of Falmouth displayed her strength and power in the shot put (39-5 3/4) and discus (133-6) winning both events. Her mark in the discus was a Navigators school record, and the fourth farthest throw in state history.


Isabella Harmon of Scarborough won the high jump (5-4) and set a new league record in the pole vault as she cleared 10-7 inches to break the 10-6 mark from 2018 from Red Storm's Anna Gardner. 

Scarborough closed out the meet with an exciting finish in the 4x400m relay as Emerson Flaker came from behind to pass Portland's Samantha Moore with 100m to go as the Red Storm clocked a state-leading time of 4:06.56. Falmouth opened the meet in the 4x800m relay with a state-leading time of 9:50.64. Cheverus won the 4x100 in a close finish as the Stags ran 51.57

Other winners were Alisandra Lindos of Portland in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 6 1/2 inches, while Katherine Leblanc of Thornton Academy won the javelin with a toss of 105-6.


WMC Large School Championship (Results) (Race Videos)

The 2024 WMC Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship saw an outstanding performance by the Greely boys' team, who clinched the team title with an impressive total of 194 points. Greely's comprehensive strength across various events, particularly in the relays, hurdles, and field events, was crucial in their championship victory. York finished as the runner-up with 118 points. Notable individual performances included Sam Laverdiere of Lake Region, who won both the 1600m and 3200m, and Jonah Guibord of Greely, who claimed titles in both hurdles events.

    • 100m: Justin Dawes from Yarmouth took the 100m title with a time of 11.3 seconds.
    • 200m: Ethan Hoffman of Yarmouth claimed the 200m title, finishing in 23.25 seconds.
    • 400m: Owen Patridge of Greely won the 400m with a time of 51.92 seconds.
  • Middle Distance:

    • 800m: Carter Libby from GNG dominated the 800m, finishing in 1:57.94.
  • Long Distance:

    • 1600m & 3200m: Sam Laverdiere from Lake Region showcased his endurance, winning both the 1600m (4:20.77) and the 3200m (9:40.35).
  • Hurdles:

    • 110m Hurdles: Jonah Guibord from Greely emerged victorious in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.24 seconds.
    • 300m Hurdles: Guibord also claimed the 300m hurdles title, finishing in 42.24 seconds.
  • Relays:

    • 4x100m Relay: Greely secured the 4x100m relay title with a time of 44.67 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: Greely won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:32.92.
    • 4x800m Relay: Greely also took the 4x800m relay title, finishing in 8:23.09. A Class B leading time.
  • Field Events:

    • Shot Put: Ethan Hoffman from Yarmouth excelled in the shot put event with a throw of 51-9 1/2.
    • Discus: Trevor Amos from GNG claimed the discus title with a throw of 141-2.
    • Javelin: Charles Anania of Greely won the javelin event with a throw of 165-8.
    • Long Jump: Alexander Mendoza from Greely took the long jump title with a leap of 21-4 1/2.
    • Triple Jump: Ben Cobb from GNG won the triple jump with a distance of 41-9.
    • High Jump: Gavin Davis of York secured the high jump title by clearing 6-0.
    • Pole Vault: Charles Anania of Greely excelled in the pole vault, clearing 13-0.
    • 1600m Race Walk: Thomas Leggat-Barr from Greely won the 1600m race walk with a time of 7:41.65.


The York girls' team emerged as the team champions with a score of 134.33 points as they held off Greely who finished close behind with 129 points. York's strong performances, particularly in the distance races, hurdles, and relays, were key to their championship victory. Standout individual performances included Cary Drake, who won both the 1600m and 3200m, and Audrey Dennan, who claimed the 100m hurdles. Greely also had notable successes in the relays and field events, with Jacqueline Franklin and Victoria Zandan excelling in their respective events.

    • 100m & 200m: Avery Bariteau from Fryeburg Academy dominated the sprints, winning the 100m with a time of 13.2 seconds and the 200m in 26.31 seconds.
  • Middle Distance:

    • 400m: Jacqueline Franklin of Greely took the 400m title with a time of 61.34 seconds.
    • 800m: Zoe Carroll from York excelled in the 800m, finishing in 2:20.01.
  • Long Distance:

    • 1600m & 3200m: Cary Drake from York won both the 1600m (5:02.87) and the 3200m (11:15.56). She set a new conference record in the 1600m.
  • Hurdles:

    • 100m Hurdles: Audrey Drennan from York won the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.96 seconds.
    • 300m Hurdles: Luciana Bourgeios of Freeport claimed the 300m hurdles title, finishing in 48.65 seconds.
  • Relays:

    • 4x100m Relay: Greely secured the 4x100m relay title with a time of 51.99 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: Greely also won the 4x400m relay, finishing in 4:19.40.
    • 4x800m Relay: York took the 4x800m relay title with a time of 10:04.06.
  • Field Events:

    • Shot Put: Sloan Gardner from Cape Elizabeth dominated the shot put event with a throw of 33-4.
    • Discus: Sabine Sites of Greely claimed the discus title with a throw of 96-1.
    • Javelin: Nora Dowling from York won the javelin event with a throw of 98-4.
    • Long Jump: Jacqueline Franklin from Greely took the long jump title with a leap of 16-0.
    • Triple Jump: Victoria Zandan from Greely excelled in the triple jump, winning with a distance of 35-0.
    • High Jump: Campbell Johnson from Lake Region secured the high jump title, clearing 4-10.

The 2024 WMC Small School Outdoor Track and Field Championship was an exciting meet, with the Wells boys' team emerging as the team champions with a total of 142.5 points. Poland followed as the runner-up with 123 points. Wells' depth and strength across various events, especially in the relays and field events, were instrumental in their championship victory. Notable individual performances included Carter Boulanger of Sacopee Valley, who won both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, and Cadyn Langlois of Poland, who secured victories in both the 200m and long jump events.

    • 110m Hurdles & 300m Hurdles: Carter Boulanger from Sacopee Valley excelled in both hurdle events, winning the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.88 seconds and the 300m hurdles in 44.76 seconds.
  • Relays:

    • 4x100m Relay: Poland secured the 4x100m relay title with a time of 45.75 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: Wells won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:47.69.
    • 4x800m Relay: Old Orchard Beach took the 4x800m relay title, finishing in 9:17.65.
  • Field Events:

    • Shot Put: Kellan Weldy from Traip Academy dominated the shot put event with a throw of 40-11.
    • Discus: Ethan Roberts of Wells claimed the discus title with a throw of 109-11.
    • Javelin: Alexander Albright from Wells won the javelin event with a throw of 116-7.
    • Long Jump: Cadyn Langlois from Poland took the long jump title with a leap of 20-0.
    • Triple Jump: John Brocke from St. Dominic Academy excelled in the triple jump, winning with a distance of 40-1 1/2.
    • High Jump: Carter Boulanger from Sacopee Valley secured the high jump title by clearing 5-9.
    • Pole Vault: Alexander Albright of Wells won the pole vault, clearing 9-6.
    • 1600m Race Walk: Colby Thomas from Old Orchard Beach won the 1600m race walk with a time of 9:12.40.


The 2024 WMC Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship featured an exceptional performance by the North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) girls' team, who clinched the team champion title with a commanding 207 points. Traip Academy finished as the runner-up with 107 points. NYA's comprehensive strength across multiple events, particularly in the hurdles, relays, and field events, was crucial in their dominant championship victory. Standout individual performances included Graca Bila, who won four events (200m, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and triple jump), and Soren Stark-Chessa, who claimed titles in both the 800m and 1600m races. Sarah Moore also contributed significantly to NYA's success with her victories in the long jump and high jump.

    • 100m: Davina Kita from Old Orchard Beach won the 100m dash with a time of 13.83 seconds.
    • 200m: Graca Bila from NYA claimed the 200m title, finishing in 26.89 seconds.

    • 400m: Lillan Sittig of Wells took the 400m title with a time of 66.16 seconds.
    • 800m: Soren Stark-Chessa from NYA dominated the 800m, finishing in 2:21.67.
    • 1600m: Stark-Chessa also won the 1600m with a time of 5:12.44.

    • 3200m: Elise Abbott from Traip Academy won the 3200m race, finishing in 12:40.66.
  • Hurdles:

    • 100m Hurdles: Graca Bila from NYA emerged victorious in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.83 seconds.
    • 300m Hurdles: Bila also claimed the 300m hurdles title, finishing in 46.42 seconds.
  • Relays:

    • 4x100m Relay: Poland secured the 4x100m relay title with a time of 55.25 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: NYA won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:37.61.
    • 4x800m Relay: Traip Academy took the 4x800m relay title, finishing in 11:55.75.
  • Field Events:

    • Shot Put: Cass MacCarthy from NYA dominated the shot put event with a throw of 29-11.
    • Discus: Madeline Ellis of Poland claimed the discus title with a throw of 82-9.
    • Javelin: MacCarthy also won the javelin event with a throw of 97-4.
    • Long Jump: Sarah Moore from NYA took the long jump title with a leap of 17-10.
    • Triple Jump: Graca Bila from NYA excelled in the triple jump, winning with a distance of 37-3 1/2.
    • High Jump: Sarah Moore of NYA secured the high jump title by clearing 5-2.
    • Pole Vault: Kiya Rogers from Sacopee Valley won the pole vault, clearing 5-3.
    • 1600m Race Walk: Rahel Delaney from NYA won the 1600m race walk with a time of 8:09.98.


KVAC Large School Championship (Results) (Photos)

 Mt. Ararat clinched the Boys' team championship title with an impressive score of 172 points as they held off a strong challenge from Lewiston who tallied 152 points for the the runner-up finish.

Individually, standout performances highlighted the meet, Skowhegan's Billy Albertson won the 100m event in 11.55 seconds. Albertson added a pair of first-place finishes in the long jump (22-9) and triple jump (43-10). His mark in the long jump broke his record of 22-8 set a year ago.


Aidan Greenleaf from Mt. Ararat won the 200m and 400m events, claiming first place with times of 23.36 seconds and 50.26 seconds, respectively. His victory in the 200m didn't come easy as the first time the final was run the timing system didn't record the time, so a re-run took place in between the 3200m races. Greenleaf was voted track performer of the meet for his efforts.

Beckett Cote from Messalonskee was the surprise winner in the 800m as he crossed the finish line in 2:06.56 in section 1, the faster section opted for a slow first lap of 67 seconds and was not able to close fast enough over the final lap to surpass the effort of Cote.

Brunswick's Ben Klingle used his patented kick to come back to win the 1600m in a time of 4:29.12, while Enzo Giampaolo from Lewiston was the best in the 3200m, clocking in at 10:19.22.

In the hurdles events, Ethan Palmer from Mt. Ararat impressed with a swift 15.43 seconds in the 110HH, while Ben Therriault, also from Mt. Ararat, doubled back from the 400 to capture the 300H, finishing in 41.04 seconds.

Relay events added to the excitement, with Brunswick clinching victory in the 4X100 with a time of 44.97 seconds, and Mt. Ararat dominating the 4X400 with a strong anchor leg from Aidan Greenleaf in a time of 3:37.39. Brunswick took the 4X800 as they clocked 8:41.32.


In the field events, Ryker Paradis from Lewiston emerged as a force to be reckoned with, claiming victory in Shot Put with a massive throw of 56-8 1/2, as well as in Discus (166-11) and Javelin (161-1).  Paradis's toss in the discus broke the 44-year-old record of 164-5 by Steve Mason of Lawrence. Josia Katroli from Lewiston soared to victory in the high jump with a height of 6-2 2 while Bryce Holden from Mt. Ararat was the best in Pole Vault, securing first place with a height of 12-6.

The 1600RW event saw Ian Britt from Mt. Ararat emerging victorious with a time of 8:07.23.

The 2024 KVAC Large School Outdoor Track and Field Championship concluded with an impressive performance by the Brunswick girls' team, who claimed the team title with a total of 148 points. Mt. Ararat finished as the runner-up, garnering 124 points. Brunswick's strong performances across multiple events, especially in the middle-distance races and field events, were crucial in securing their championship victory. Makenna Drouin of Lewiston was a standout individual performer, securing four individual event titles in the sprints and hurdles. Brunswick's Lexi Morin set a new league record in the javelin with a toss of 124-3.

    • 100m: Makenna Drouin of Lewiston dominated the sprint events, winning the 100m with a time of 12.67 seconds.
    • 200m: Drouin continued her outstanding performance in the 200m, clocking in at 25.9 seconds.

    • 400m: Lisi Palmer from Brunswick secured the 400m title with a time of 62.64 seconds.
    • 800m: Maeve Woodruff of Brunswick showcased her endurance by winning the 800m in 2:22.77.
    • 1600m: Woodruff continued her winning streak in the 1600m, finishing with a time of 5:26.57.
  • Long Distance:

    • 3200m: Jenna VanRyn from Camden Hills took the 3200m title with a time of 11:54.54.
  • Hurdles:

    • 100m Hurdles: Makenna Drouin proved her versatility by winning the 100m hurdles in 15.7 seconds.
    • 300m Hurdles: Drouin also claimed the 300m hurdles title with a time of 47.68 seconds.
  • Relays:

    • 4x100m Relay: Brunswick emerged victorious with a time of 53.4 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: Mt. Ararat won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:25.61.
    • 4x800m Relay: Mt. Blue secured the 4x800m relay title, finishing in 10:37.19.
  • Field Events:

    • Shot Put: Cassidy Hardy of Mt. Blue threw 35-4 1/2 to win the shot put event.
    • Discus: Hardy also claimed the discus title with a throw of 110-11.
    • Javelin: Lexi Morin from Brunswick won the javelin with an impressive throw of 124-3 breaking the KVAC record of 122-1 set in 2018 by Jadah Adams of Oxford Hills
    • Long Jump: Saphryn Fulgham of Edward Little leaped 17-8 1/4 to win the long jump.
    • Triple Jump: Fulgham also won the triple jump with a distance of 34-11.
    • High Jump: Lisi Palmer from Brunswick won the high jump, clearing 5-2.
    • Pole Vault: Lydia White of Mt. Ararat took the pole vault title with a clearance of 9-0.
    • 1600m Race Walk: Natalie Grant from Gardiner won the 1600m race walk with a time of 8:14.08.


PVC Large School Championship (Results)

The 2024 PVC Large School Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw Bangor clinching the team championship with a total of 130 points. Caribou finished as the runner-up with 94 points. Bangor's depth and strength across a variety of events, particularly in sprints and field events, were pivotal in their championship victory. Notable individual performances included Matthew Cormier of Ellsworth, who won both the 800m and 1600m, and Jack Guinness of John Bapst, who claimed titles in both hurdles events.

    • 100m: Gage Jones from Bangor dominated the 100m dash, winning with an impressive time of 10.99 seconds.
    • 200m: Miles Burr of MDI showcased his speed in the 200m, clocking in at 22.2 seconds.

    • 400m: Evan Durepo from Caribou took the 400m title with a time of 51.64 seconds.
    • 800m: Matthew Cormier of Ellsworth excelled in the 800m, finishing in 2:02.76.
    • 1600m: Cormier continued his success in the 1600m, winning with a time of 4:34.66.
    • 3200m: Aedyn Hughes from Ellsworth won the 3200m race, finishing in 10:09.84.
  • Hurdles:

    • 110m Hurdles: Jack Guinness from John Bapst emerged victorious in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.76 seconds.
    • 300m Hurdles: Guinness also claimed the 300m hurdles title, finishing in 40.92 seconds.

    • 4x100m Relay: Bangor secured the 4x100m relay title with a time of 44.54 seconds.
    • 4x400m Relay: John Bapst won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:33.51.

    • Discus: Jake Bassi of Bangor claimed the discus title with a throw of 143-6.
    • Javelin: Andrew Henaghen from Hampden Academy won the javelin event with a throw of 157-0.
    • Long Jump: Justyn Johnson from Brewer won the long jump with a leap of 20-11.
    • Triple Jump & High Jump: Mason St. Peter from Caribou excelled in the jumps, winning both the triple jump (42-10) and the high jump (6-0).
    • Pole Vault: Dylan Courtney from Hampden Academy won the pole vault, clearing 13-4.
    • 1600m Race Walk: Wesley Hitchcook from Caribou took the 1600m race walk title with a time of 8:13.61.


Bangor's consistent and strong performances across multiple events, particularly in the relays and hurdles, were instrumental in their championship victory. The Bangor girls' team, secured the team title with a commanding 190 points. Hampden Academy finished as the runner-up with 118 points. Standout individual performances included Gretchen Plant of Hampden Academy, who won both the 1600m and 3200m races, and Olivia Pratt of MDI, who secured victories in both the shot put and discus events.

Bucksport Triumphs at the 2024 PVC Small School Outdoor Track and Field Championship

The 2024 PVC Small School Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw Bucksport emerge as the Girls' Team Champion, securing victory with an impressive total of 146 points. Orono claimed the runner-up position with 131 points.

Bucksport's Haley Rose dominated the sprint events as she showed her speed and endurance. She claimed victory in the 100m (12.79), 200m (26.67), and 400m(64.45) races, scoring thirty points for the Golden Bucks.


Natalie Johnson of Houlton/GHCA secured victory in the 800m race with a time of 2:23.56. Teanne Ewings, also from Houlton/GHCA turned back Orono standout Ruth White to win both the 1600m (5:02.60) and 3200m (10:35.65) events.

Ava Goulette of Piscatasquis was the standout thrower winning both the Shot Put (37-10 1/2) and Discus (113-5), both marks were new Class C leading distances. In the javelin, Sophie Hepler of Orono tossed it out to 111-1 to win the event.

Natasha Monreal of Bucksport set a new personal best in the long jump (18-1 1/4) and also won the triple jump (36-3 3/4). The long jump mark was a new Class C leading mark.

Bucksport scored important points in the relays as they won the 4x100m (53.09) and 4x400m (4:21.03) relays, Orono won the 4x800m relay in a time of 11:00.32.

Other winners were Ada Fisher of Sumner who won the 100m hurdles (15.96) while Mary Allen of Central was tops in the 300m hurdles (49.04). Kathleen Stephens of George Stevens Academy cleared 4-10 to win the high jump while Ashley Cyr of Bucksport won the pole vault with a 7-foot clearance.

Orono Claims Victory at the 2024 PVC Small School Outdoor Track & Field Championship

In a closely contested battle, Orono emerged as the Boys' team champion, securing victory with a total of 106 points. Bangor Christian claimed the runner-up position with 87 points.

Conner Donahue of Foxcroft Academy won the 100m event with a swift time of 11.24 seconds. Rowan Gagne of George Stevens Academy took the 200m race, securing victory with a time of 23.61 seconds. Central's Logan Jackson won the 400m clocking 54.55.


Kaleb Colson of Sumner dominated the 800m event, running with an impressive time of 1:55.64. While William Hileman of Bucksport was victorious in both the 1600m (4:26.68) and 3200m (9:48.15).

Jack Kingsbury of Foxcroft Academy was the best hurdler on the night as he won both the 110m hurdles (16.3) and the 300m (43.24)

Davyn Stewart of Bucksport was the best in the Shot Put with a throw of 47 feet 11 inches. Cooper Sawyer of Orono set a personal best in the discus with his winning throw of 144 feet 7 inches.

Foxcroft Academy secured victory in the 4x100m relay with a time of 45.5 seconds, while Sumner won both the 4x400m (3:42.29) and 4x800m (8:37.94).

Colton White of Bangor Christian impressed in the Long Jump event, securing victory with a jump of 20 feet 1 3/4 inches, while Jackson Smith of Foxcroft Academy showcased his jumping ability by winning the High Jump event.

KVAC Small School Championship (Results)

Leavitt Dominates at the 2024 KVAC Small School Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Leavitt emerged as the Girls' team champion, securing victory with an impressive total of 147 points. Maine Central Institute claimed the runner-up position with 96 points

Madison Yakimchick of Waterville won the 100m dash with a time of 13.1 seconds while Reese Novicka of Oceanside impressed in the 200m race, claiming victory with a time of 26.92 seconds.

Shealyn Brochu of Morse showcased her strength and endurance in the middle-distance events, securing victories in the 400m (60.72), 800m (2:23.80), and 1600m (5:18.36). Haley Marston of Leavitt was the best in the 3200m race with a strong time of 11:42.62.

Serae Fish of Leavitt secured victories in both the 100m hurdles (16.15) and the 300m hurdles (48.96). Fish also cleared 5 feet in the high jump to win the event.

Leavitt got the stick around the track in the 4x100m relay with a winning time of 51.79 seconds, while Morse was best in the 4x400m relay, claiming victory with a time of 4:24.40. Leavitt also won the 4x800m relay (10:25.30)

Zoe Hutchins of Lawrence swept the shot put and discus events with tosses of 34-1 and 99-0 respectively.  Kara Anderson of Waterville swept the long and triple jumps with winning marks of 16-8 1/2 and 34-3 1/2.

Sarah Ouellette of Morse impressed in the Pole Vault event, setting a new KVAC record with a height of 11 feet 7 1/2 inches surpassing the mark set back in 2007 by Cony's Bethany Dumas.

Leavitt Secures Victory at the 2024 KVAC Small Schools Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Leavitt emerged as the Boys' Team Champion, securing victory with an impressive total of 163.5 points. Winslow claimed the runner-up position with 129.5 points

Senior Joseph Richards of Winslow impressed in the 200m and 400m races, setting KVAC records with times of 22.01 seconds and 48.71 seconds, respectively. Richards now has the state-leading time in the 200m, and his 400m dash moves him to seventh best in state history.

Mason Henderson of Leavitt showcased his speed in the 100m event, securing victory with a swift time of 10.93 seconds to break the KVAC league record. Henderson was the runner-up in the 200m clocking 22.11 to set a new sophomore state best.

Levi Riggs of Morse topped the field in the 800m race, securing victory with a time of 2:01.64 while Braden Rioux of Winslow took the victory in 1600m with a time of 4:40.17. Gabe Durazo of Leavitt took the top spot in the 3200m race with his winning effort of 10:24.01

Stephen Pierre of Leavitt won the 110m hurdles (14.85) seconds while Isaac Keresey of Maine Central Institute (MCI) impressed in the 300m hurdles with his winning effort of 40.9.

Leavitt took the top spot in the 4x100m relay with a time of 44.58 seconds. Winslow swept the longer relays  4x400m (3:39.16) and 4x800m (8:46.93).

Maddox Demers of Leavitt was a double winner in the shot put (44-5) and javelin (146-8). Zebadiah Hannah of Lawrence impressed in the discus event, throwing a new personal best and Class B leading distance of 157 feet 9 inches.

Will Rush of Medomak Valley showcased his jumping ability by winning both the long jump (22-6 1/2) and triple jump (45-8 3/4). Noah Gibbs of Leavitt won the high Jump even with a height of 5 feet 4 inches while Isaac Keresey of MCI cleared 11-0 to win the pole vault.


MVC Championship (Results)

The MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship showcased outstanding performances across various events,  culminating in a thrilling competition. With fierce determination and skill, teams from around the conference vied for top honors, but it was the Lisbon Greyhounds who emerged as the Boys' Team Champion, amassing an impressive total of 164 points. Winthrop secured the runner-up position with 128 points with a strong effort.

Emmett Mooney of Lisbon was a standout performer, dominating the sprints. He claimed victory in both the 100m and 200m events with times of 11.15 seconds and 23.08 seconds, respectively. Mooney further showcased his versatility by triumphing in the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles, contributing 40 points to Lisbon's success.

Winthrop's Teddy Wagner was tops in the 400m, claiming victory with a commendable time of 54.71 seconds. Chris Pottle of Winthrop dominated the distance events, securing victories in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m events.

In the relay events, Mt. Valley displayed exceptional teamwork, securing victory in the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.23 seconds. Lisbon triumphed in the 4x400m event with a time of 3:43.57, while Winthrop claimed victory in the 4x800m relay with a time of 9:11.25.

The field events witnessed outstanding performances as well. Kaden James of Lisbon dominated the Shot Put event with a throw of 41 feet 8 inches. At the same time, Owen Booker of Lisbon showcased his versatility by securing victories in the Javelin, Long Jump, and Triple Jump events. Nick Powell of Lisbon won the High Jump, clearing a height of 6 feet 4 1/4 inches, while Bryan Donnelly of Madison emerged victorious in the Pole Vault event.

Additionally, Carter Butterfield of Mt. Abram won the 1600m Race Walk, securing victory with a time of 7:23.65.

Maranacook Secures Victory at 2024 MVC Girls Outdoor Track and Field Championship

The 2024 MVC Girls Outdoor Track and Field Championship witnessed fierce competition among talented athletes. Ultimately, it was Maranacook who emerged as the team champion, capturing the title with 105 points, while Boothbay/Wiscasset claimed the runner-up position with 89 points.

Mya Austin of Buckfield showcased her speed by dominating the sprint events. She secured victory in both the 100m and 200m races with impressive times of 12.92 seconds and 26.96 seconds, respectively

Brooke Chase of Mt. Valley won the 110m hurdles event (17.45), while also adding another victory in the triple jump (33-7 1/2). Isabel Folsom of Winthrop impressed in the Long Jump winning with a jump of 15 feet 10 inches.


Haley Williams of Winthrop won both the 800m (2:32.97) and 1600m(5:34.57) while Karen Higgins of Boothbay/Wiscasset was tops in the 3200 (12:50.48)

Ava Landry of Madison emerged victorious in the Javelin event with a throw of 111 feet 5 inches, while Olympia Farrell of Maranacook showcased her versatility by winning the Pole Vault with a height of 8 feet 6 inches and also triumphing in the 300m hurdles.

Buckfield secured victory in the 4x100m relay with a time of 54.88 seconds, while Lisbon emerged victorious in the 4x400m relay. Boothbay/Wiscasset was victorious in the 4x800m relay with a time of 11:19.01.
