The Scott Laliberte Invitational traditionally serves as the season opener for many Central Maine teams and athletes, and this year was no exception. Competitors lined up for the unique coed race on the course that will also host the state championships for the first time in November. While the Laliberte layout differs from the championship course, Friday's 4k provided an early test of fitness.
The meet also showcased several athletes who made significant improvements from their 2024 performances, signaling big potential for the season ahead.
Waterville's Penny Graham made the biggest leap in the field, cutting an impressive 4:19 off her 2024 time. The rising junior jumped from 51st place last year to 19th this fall.
Mt. Blue's Lily Jackson showed the next largest gain with a 3:26 improvement, just ahead of Edward Little's Charlie Dresdner, who dropped 3:24 from her time.
