MT ARARAT SWEEPS MEET AT BRUNSWICK

   The Mt. Ararat boys and girls cross country teams both took first place in a meet at Brunswick on Thursday. Teresa Murphy of Brunswick was the girls winner with a sub 21 performance, while Mt. Ararat's Andy Reifman-Packett took the boys race in 16:55. To read more...

Meet Results

The rain held off and Cony was successfull in getting the races in.

Abby Mace took the girls around the course in a bit over 20 minutes. Willow Parker and Brittany Bowman followed as was predicted. Camden Hills girls team's consistancy put them in first place well ahead of second place Hampden. 

In the boys's race Luis Mauser and Ben Trapani raced shoulder to shoulder the entire 5K and it came down to the last 30 meters as to who had enough gas to finish. Luis took it by 1.39 seconds! In the team reslts only one point seperated Hampden from their rivals across the river in Brewer.

#6 Bangor boys won another meet behind Jonathan Stanhope's 2nd place finish (18:06.8). Messalonskee's Harlow Ladd remained undefeated on the season with a 17:30.7 clocking.

The showdown between Bethanie Brown (WTVL) & Erzsebet Nagy (Law) was a good one with Brown taking the win in 20:07.9. Nagy (20:55) battled but was overcome by dehydration in the final 200m which left her to a walk across the finishline & susbsequently lose consciousness for 10 minutes after finishing. Nagy couldn't remember finishing but has recovered from the incidence is doing well now. Waterville took the team victory.

 

 

KVAC: Lewiston, Edward Little @ Oxford Hills

Meet Results

#11 Lewiston took down rival Edward Little 29-34 behind a 1-2 finish from Kevin Lavertu (18:12) & Mohamed Awil (18:14).

Lewiston's Nicole Court Menedez took her 2nd win of the season crossing the line first in 23:52 to lead the Blue Devils a 1-2-3-4 finish

Looker & Bulteel take Sectional wins - Caribou Boys | MDI Girls prevail

OLD TOWN- Thee high school cross country season is nearing its halfway point, and some of Eastern Maine's top individuals and teams are starting to distance themselves from the pack.  If the results of Saturday's Sectional Invitational at Old Town High School are any indication of how the Class B postseason will shape up, there will be some very exciting racing come mid-October.    The Caribou boys showed they haven't lost a step in defending their state championship, as the Vikings claimed team honors along with the MDI girls on a cloudy, sticky afternoon.

Boys National Elite Performances

Matt McClintock continued his dominance winning over rival Chase Brown by 1:04 by clocking a 15:07 on the 3 mile course. Brown did led his team to the victory over Lisbon 30-39

Meagan Thomas (Lisbon) showed good form with a 20:46 clocking to win by 51 seconds over Allie McClintock 21:37. Lisbon edged Madison 32-33 in the team race

SMAA:Windham, Noble @ South Portland

Meet Results

Daryl Wilkinson (SP) scored a win over Keegan Brennan (Win) on his home course, Wilkinson covered the 2.65 mile course in 14:24 to finish 11 seconds up. His time was just off the top 150 times in the history of the course. #6 South Portland won with just 19 points.

Nyajock Pan (SP) crossed the line first 16:58 while #11 Windham took the team victory

 

 

SMAA: Cheverus, Bonny Eagle, Kennebunk @ Massabesic

Abbey Leonardi (Ken) returned to action dispatching her chief rival Emily Durgin (Chev) by 57 seconds on a challenging course at the Brothers Orchard.  #1 Cheverus showed why they are the top team with 3 national elite performances to defeat #3 Massabesic 27-48

Kennebunk's Chris Dunn dominated the field running 17:27 to win by 41 seconds over Cody Vachon (Mass). Massabesic edged Cheverus 33-33 on the better 6th man

 

SMAA: McAuley, Gorham, Marshwood @ Thornton Academy

Meet Results

Jack Lettelier (Mar) took the by 16 seconds over Gabe Letourneau (TA) 18:13 to 18:29. Marshwood edged Gorham 35-38 in the team race

Charlotte Pierce (TA) continued her winning ways as she finished in 19:33. Marshwood held off McAuley 42-48 for the team win

 

SMAA: Deering, Scarborough, Biddeford @ Sanford

#1 Scarborough handled #12 Deering with ease 27-57, the Red Storm were led by race winner Nick Morris, who used a huge kick to take the win 16:35 over Cam Nadeau (Bid) 16:37 & Bryant Perkins (San) 16:38. Scarborough placed 5 runners in the top 8 finishers, and had all 5 scorers in before Deering's #2 crossed the line.

Scarborough edged Sanford in the girls team race 33-35. Ella Ramonas (Der) took the individual win in 21:00 winning by 47 seconds Maggie Smith (Scar)

 

 

WMC: Falmouth, Poland Sacopee, Traip @ Wells

Meet Results

#2 Falmouth scored an easy win with 17 points. Tim Follo(Fal) took the win a week after missing a meet due to sickness. Follo covered the 3 mile course in 16:38.

Kristina Smith (Pol) & Madeline Roberts (Fal) the top 2 but got lost so the official race winner was Charlotte Kirk (Fal) 23:17. Falmouth won the team race

 

WMC: Fryeburg, Waynflete,York @ Cape

Eastman & Evans cruise @ Cape

Fryeburg's Silas Eastman rus the 3rd fastest time on the Gull Crest Field 3 mile course clocking 15:26, while the #6 York Boys win over #10 Cape 33-46. On the girls side Heather Evans (York) ran the 9th fastest time in history on the course, while the #6 Cape Elizabeth girls edged #9 York 36-37.

Jack Pierce (Merriconeag) won again as he finished in 18:57 to hold off Will Shafer (GNG) 19:10. Merriconeag took the team victory

Sarah Becker (Yar) won her 2nd race in a row 24:28 . Merriconeag had 5 of the top 8 runners to win the race.

Girls National Elite Performances

#4 Greely boys won the small school division race behind a top 5 finish from Nate Madeira (17:00) & Stefan Sandreuter 8th place (17:05) run. The Rangers placed all 5 scorers in the top 29. NYA's Cam Regan was the top Maine runner finishing 4th in 16:59. Taylor Saucier (Freeport) finished 11th  (17:19)

Greely's Kirstin Sandreuter placed 3rd in the small schools race crossing the line in 19:42. Also running well was Eva Bates (Greely) 12th 21:02. Greely finished 5th in the small schools team race to lead all Maine teams. IN the large schools race Mikayla Frazier of Massabesic was the top Maine finisher in 35th 20:59.
