Hello again Maine TrackXC runners and fans,

The past two meets have been incredible for our Massabesic team. We have pulled away with amazing victories and accomplishments. I am so excited for Southwesterns and States and to see what will come of all the hard work and dedication we have been putting in this season.

Gabby Johnson came away with a win in the two mile finishing at 12:06.37. It was a close race that made her fight till the end. The Scots came in second with 12:09.47. This raced marked her pr for the season. She is ready to come out and beat that time in the meets to come.

Our distance group also finished big with Cody Vachon stealing first place and collapsing at the end with a time of 4:52.17 in the one mile. It was a gut wrenching race as all of our teammates cheered our hearts out for Cody to win. He beat Windam’s Keegan Gervais who finished second with 4:53.82. Vachon also appeared in the Waterboro Reporter this past week with his epic win.

The girls 4x400 placed second against Cheverus with a time of 4:26.06. Cheverus had finished with 4:24.45. It was a very close race and the team loved the intensity and drive that set the mood.

Kathleen Duffy shocked the team with a second place in the senior 200. She had never run a 200 in a meet before and it was exciting seeing her accomplish a time of 29.97 her first try. She is a quality runner on our team and we love the energy she brings.

Also our runner Emily Foglio got a time of 29.61 in the Junior 200 getting placed at 5th overall. She is a sophomore this year and we are amazed at all the improvement she has done.

In the 55meter dash Massabesic came out with a tremendous victory as I placed first with a time of 7.90 and Gabbie Townsend 4th with 8.37. It was amazing finally having the top spot and Gabbie placing with me. We loved hearing our names being called over the mic as they named off the top five finishers.

I also walked out with first place in the senior 400 with a time of 1:07.72. As of right now I'm striving to drop my time down to 1:03, and know that there is work to be done.

Our last regular season meet is this Saturday at 2:30pm. The team has been working hard this week to beat the clock and run our hearts out. I will end this blog with a saying from one of the best runners I know, and he reminds us every day that....

"It's a beautiful day to run." - Mr. Hesler

Happy Running,

Chelsey Kendrick
