White takes boys race, Koch wins for 3rd time. Orono boys & Washburn girls take home team titles
Tyler White used his patented last race surge to take home top honors in 17:27, while Casryn Koch won her 3rd straight tile on the girls side. The Orono boys were dominate in taking the team title, while Washburn took top honors in the girls race. Check out our meet coverage & see who is moving on to the state meet next week.
Results
Orono's Tyler White found himself in an unlikely position about half way through the Eastern Maine Regional race. "I was in 3rd and I got a little nervous" White would say. Tyler woke up in plenty of time as he would go on to win the race by 31 seconds, finishing in 17:27.
George Stevens senior Sam Stanhke ran well to finish as the runner-up to White. Stanhke stopped the clock at 17:58.
Behind him came the Bangor Christian duo of Dylan Merchant & Samuel Proctor in 3rd & 4th place
Mattanawcook's Josh Wheeler came across the line in 5th (18:49)
Orono's Brian Westhoven led a 6-8-9 finish for the Riots. Westhoven ran 19:04, Schuyler Collett 19:12 & Josh Marquis 19:18
Bangor Christian's Zac Palmeter broke up the Orono pack with his 7th place finish.
Hodgdon senior Nicholas Lunn rounded out the top 10 finisher (19:31)
Orono with 4 in the top 9 dominated the team competition as they tallied just 30 points. Bangor Christian the defending champions were the runner-up's
with 60 points.

Carsyn Koch has been the top runner in Eastern Class C since she was a freshman two year ago. Koch added to her legacy as she captured her 3rd straight Eastern Maine regional title on Saturday. Koch, a junior from Washburn, covered the sloppy course in 20:57. Her winning margin was 26 seconds.
The PVC small school champion Lily Koffman of Orono was the runner-up (21:23) while Koch's teammate Carmen Bragg finished 3rd 22:11
Calais's Madison McVicar had a strong run for 4th while Mackenzie Worcester of Washburn crossed in 5th (22:28)
Orono's Jordan Richards came in 6th with Clara Beal of Machias finishing in 7th (23:02)
Then came the run of freshman led by Bucksport's Natalie Coleman in 8th, then caame Kate Whitney of Machias in 9th, followed by Emilie Churchill of Washburn to round out the top 10.
Washburn's strength up front 1-3-5 finish was more than enough to capture the team title, as they finished with 28 points. Orono who also had 3 in the top 10 finished as the runner-ups with 41 points
George Stevens & Lee Academy also advanced to the state meet
