Week #4 Girls

After FOC their are 13 new top 15 performances. Leading the way at the top is sophomore Kialeigh Marston of Bonny Eagle who ran away with the win at FOC witha 18:42. Kirstin Sandreuter falls to the #2 ranked girl in the state of Maine at 5k with her 18:46, 2 weekends ago she ran a 18:59 at Manchester. Bonny Eagle senior Mary Szatkowski didn't run at FOC because of SATs ran a season best 18:56 at TA on Tuesday. South Portland senior Shannon Conley was the runner-up at FOC, her 18:59 effort ranks her 4th in the state. Rounding out the top 5 is sophomore Anne Mckee of Kent's Hill who finished a blink of an eye behind Conlet at FOC.

Aleta Looker of Ellsworth remains in the top spot with a speedy 18:10. York senior Heather Evans remains 2nd with a 19:40. Freshman Tia Hardy of Mattanawcook stays 3rd with her performance (19:52) at the Bucksport Invitational three weeks ago. Right behind her in 4th is Lily Koffman of Orono who ran 19:53 at Bucksport a step behind Tardy. Carsyn Koch was the only need addition to the top 5 as she ran a 19:55 at the Sectional XC meet.
Boys 5k (click for full rankings)
Big time changes this week as 12 of the top 15 hit new seasonal best. Josef Holt Andrews of Telstar lowered his state leading 5k down to 15:06.92 after his win at FOC. The mark has him ranked #21 in the Saucony Elite 50 national rankings. Ellsworth senior Dan Curts had to drop out of FOC, but his 15:23 from Manchester has him ranked #2. Mt. Blue's Aaron Willingham showed he the favorite to win the Class A title as he ripped a personal best 15:42 to finish 2nd at FOC, his mark ranks him 3rd. Ryan Cadorette of Thornton Academy slips back to #4 slot with his 15:53 effort. Mt. Blue Josh Horne debuts in the top 5 after his 3rd place 15:54 performance at FOC.

There were no additions to the top 15 this week.
Ellsworth's Dan Curts got off to a fast start in 2013 as he clocked a personal best 15:43 on his home course at the Ellsworth Invitational. Will Shafer (GNG) had a duel with Braden Becker (Yarmouth) at York as the two both ran under 16 minutes, with Shafer getting the win in 15:54, Becker was 4 seconds back at 15:58. Cape's Liam SImpson opened up with an easy win on his home course as he clocked a 28 second personal best. Bangor's Jonathan Stanhope also opened with a win on his home course, Stanhope clocked 16:08 to hold off a strong effort by Caleb Lord of Hampden Academy.
