No. 7 Isaiah Harris leads Lewiston to Class A state outdoor title

Lewiston senior Isaiah Harris pulled off a triple that no other athlete in the state had ever attempted as the Penn State bound star won the 1600m, 800m & 200m plus anchored the 4x400m relay to propel the Blue Devils to the title.

"I wanted to go out with a bang, do something big" Harris did just that as he had coaches, spectators and athletes in awe of his performances.

Harris opened his state meet with a scintillating 61 second last lap to win the 1600m in a new personal best and state leading 4:18.92. Next up for Isaiah was his specialty the 800m, where he led from start to finish, to easily win in 1:55.42.

The most difficult race came next for the star, as he didn't have much rest (30 minutes) and was dropping down in distance to the 200m to face off against the new state all-time 400m record holder Jake Dixon. Harris came off the turn behind Dixon but was able to overcome him half way down the home stretch as he clocked a new personal best 22.25 to win his third individual event of the day.

The three individual wins were worth 30 important team points for the Lewiston Blue Devils. Heading into the final event Lewiston held a 1 point lead over Scarborough and 2 point lead over Cheverus. Harris put the finishing touches on the team title as he anchored the Blue Devils to win in 3:28.24, easily making up the 3 second deficit when he received the baton. The win gave Lewiston the team title with a ten point margin of victory.
