State Champion spotlight: Brady Chadwick John Bapst HS
What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
My biggest preparation for the state meet was to have a level head a lot of self confidence of my abilities heading into the meet.
How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
During the meet I just focused on myself and tried to block other things out.
Coming into the meet you were tied for the second best jump in the field 11-6, what were your expectations coming into the state meet?
I knew when I started I had a goal of 12 feet, which sadly I didn't reach at the state meet, but that goal helped me try and focus for the meet.
You ended up winning at 11-6 with fewer misses than 2 others, what went right for you at the meet?
I vaulted pretty well on that day and got 11'6 and missing 12 sadly.
What adjustments did you have to make during the competitions?
I had to move my mark a few times to change my approach to the vault but they were minor. In all i think it was a smooth meet.
Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?
And my overall goal as I said was to get 12 feet and to win states, so I reached 1 of the 2.
How do you think winning an individual state title will effect you heading into outdoors?
Winning a state meet was a great confidence boost and even more motivation to come into the outdoor ready to break my pr and hopefully do very well in states as well.
