State Champion Spotlight: Junne McIntire (Belfast)
What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
Three days prior to the meet, my father made me a carbohydrate and protein loaded dinner.
What was one thing that you focused on this winter that made a difference in your performance?
This season, I focused on keeping my body healthy to prevent injuries. My freshman year I was battling a hit. This year, I had lots of body work done to help event any injuries and I also focused on improving my starts.
You won the 55m dash in a personal best time of 7.43, what went right during the race, and were you surprised to win?
Something that went well was my start and getting out of my blocks fast and yes I was very surprised I won considering I also play varsity basketball for my school and could rarely make it to track practice.
Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?
My goals were to beat my schools records in the 55m, 200m and 4x200m and yes I achieved them all! Also another goal of mine was to become a state champion as a sophomore.
What have your coaches meant to your success?
My mom is one of my coaches and she always pushes me to do my very best.
