2023 Outlook

Freeport is coming off a fourth place finish in the Class B state meet in 2022. The Falcons were a young team a year ago with three freshman in the lineup, and bring back five of the top seven from that team. Lucy Huggett led them at the state meet a year ago, and is coming off a strong outdoor track season she that saw her finish 5th in the 1600m (5:29.40) at the state meet. Her classmate Lilah Hall will be one to watch as well she ran as the #2 at states last year, she had a strong outdoor season as well clocking 2:27.42 for 800m and 5:33.05 for 1600m, she finished 6th at states in both. With a year of experience this group should be improved, and more ready to handle the postseason in 2023. With a large turnout of freshman the likelihood of one or more stepping up an making an impact like last year's group would be a big boost.

Coach Matt Greear Comments

Summer training went pretty well. We should know pretty early how effective baseline training was. My expectations for the girls are to run to our potential and have fun, I think if we do this we should qualify for states and be competitive at the state meet.
