2023 Outlook

The Falcons won the Class B team title for the second straight year in 2022. Gone are two of the top seven but Freeport has the quality to make it three in a row this fall. Leading the way will be senior Will Spaulding who was fifth last year. Spaulding had a strong track campaign that saw him clock 10:20.15 for 3200m. One to watch for is sophomore Alex Gilbert who likely will become the top runner for the Falcons this fall. Gilbert ran 4:34.05 for 1600m this spring, and was third in the Class B state meet in the event. He was 14th a year ago as a freshman. Teo Steverlynck-Horne is no slouch, he was 12th in the state last fall and ran 10:24 for 3200m this spring on the track. These three give Freeport one of the best top trio's in the state. Don't be surprised to see Freeport once again be on the podium when it matters the most in late October.

Coach Matt Greear's Comments

Summer training went pretty well. We should know pretty early how effective baseline training was. My expectations for the boys are to run to our potential and have fun. I think if we do this we should qualify for states and be competitive at the state meet.

On the boy's side, we have another large freshman turnout, leading that class should be a strong core led by, Ian Guzman, Marsden Shetterly, and Mungu Tussing
