Hello MaineTrackXC runners and fans!

This is the first blog I have ever written in my running career and it is very well not my last. Massabesic High School indoor track team has flourished over the past two years. Once a team of merely 17 people all together has grown to about 63 girls and 20 boys.  We are one of the biggest team and show how strongly we fight to be known. Our coaches Mr. Hesler and Mr. Bowen spend many hours helping us succeed. Yet still on crutches Mr. Hesler runs around the track cheering us on and letting us know the positive and negative sides to our races. We are so blessed to have him and love the energy he brings to the sport of running.

(Mr. Hesler and Mikayla Frazier keeping their bubbly personalities even when injured.)

Our girls distance group misses the presence of Mikayla Frazier as she is on the road to recovery from her past injury. She still comes to every meet and cheers us on as if she was out there running with us all. We love her positive feedback she gives, and the laughter she brings along with it.

(Gabby Johnson getting a pr of 5:45.25 at the mile her first indoor track season.)

The team recently attended the USM Relays in Gorham on the 30. We spent a long 8-hour day at this event with some great races. The Girls 4x800 had an extremely close races placing second at 10:48.38 against Bangor who had gotten 10:48.35. I loved the adrenaline rush it gave us as we went from starting the race in third and coming that close to first. Last year our 4x800 had the great privilege to run at New England’s against the top relay teams.  We really wish to repeat that this year.

( Dan Allaire and Kaity Aboud  racewalking during the USM Relays.)

The two race walkers of our team enjoyed being able strut their stuff around the track during the relays. Dan placed second with a time of 8:32.16 and Kaity finishing with a time of 10:18.93.

(I ran the 55meter race placing 9th over all just shy of qualifying for the finals.)

I had the honor of running the 55meter race during the meet and quickly felt the work I needed to do in order to improve greatly among the top sprinters in the state of Maine. I do miss the cross country season we had and loved doing the 4x800. I wish to become part of the relay to attend New England’s.

Massabesic’s next meet is this Wednesday on the fourth at 3:00pm in Gorham at USM and wish to see all of our fans there! Happy Running! (:
