Comments from Race winner Brittany Bowman

  • "The races this season went well. At Oceanside, being the first meet of the season, I ran just to get back out there and run. The race went as planned, running a solid sub twenty, nothing too outrageous, but a good time to begin the season and a good time for that course. At Belfast, having run that course numerous times, I knew exactly what I wanted to run and how to do it. I ended up finishing a little slower than what I was hoping though. Halfway through the race the heat and sun in the fields got to me, and I finished with a decent mid 19s, not a massive amount of time slower than my best time on the course. At both races it was nice to have competition to run with.   It feels satisfying to win the first two meets of the season. This is the first year that has happened, and it is a confidence booster for the rest of the season, and especially these larger meets coming up such as FOC where I will face a handful of competition."

Comments from race winner Sam Wood

  • "I felt that the race went well. I tried to stay calm during the first mile and not go out too fast. I took the lead early on in the the second mile then just focused on widening the gap between me and the rest of the field. Ove all I'd say that I ran a smart and relaxed race and it payed off and winning felt good."

Comments from Race winner Mohamed Awil

  • "The race went very well. I have put alot of effort to successfully achieve my goals which is to do extremely well this season and hopefully there will be more wins for me. It always feels fantastic to win meets and recieve individual honors but to win my first cross country meet in my home course feels more fascinating and hopefully me and my teammates will dominate this whole season and bring home some trophies."

Comments from Race winner Caroline Colan

  • "The race felt pretty good, but my pacing was definitely off. With such a flat course, it's easy to start off too fast. It was also a hot day, but I tried not focus on it and put it out of mind. Instead, I tried to focus on the little areas where I could pick it up a little (since there really weren't any hills/downhills) and get a little bit farther ahead of Tiffany."
  • "It has been exciting for me to win two races in a row, but it's been even more exciting to come in first as a team because we have quite a few freshmen and new xc runners. I'm looking forward to see what we can do later in the season!"

Comments from Race winner Liam Simpson

  • It was a pretty good race, Peter and I worked really well together and I think the only reason I beat him was I was able to kick a lot harder than usually do in the last 800 meters or so... It felt good winning the race, but I know we weren't up against against the top individuals in the state so I know that if I want to have this success carry over to more competitive meets I'll have to be prepared to work hard and push myself even further

Girls Highlights

  • 5,000 Meter Run - Sarah Becker of Yarmouth ran away from the field to win in 21:40

Comments from Race winner Tyler White

  • "The race went well, our team went into the race with a team oriented goal of running the first mile in 6:10 so it was a nice relaxed race that came down to the last mile, and it is a good feeling but I was more impressed with our team performance"

Comments from Race winner Aleta Looker

  • "Overall, I have been impressed with the races I've ran this season and I am glad to be competing with dedicated teammates. The Caribou Invitational was a fun race to compete in, especially because it is a pretty challenging course. I ended up finishing a little slower than I'd hoped, because of a large hill leading towards the finish line. It was exciting to win the Co-Ed race of the MDI relays because I was teamed up with my twin brother, and I enjoyed winning on my home course."
