Wood Surprises, Nagy repeats in EM A races

Junior Sam Wood of Mt Ararat was the surprise boys winner of the EM Class A regional, Wood clocked 17:00 to fend of a challenge from Lewiston's Mohamed Awil 17:04. On the girls side Erzsebet Nagy was able to defend her title but it wasn't easy as she ran 20:10. The Lewiston boys won the team title as expected with 59. The girls team race was close as 3 teams were separated by just 2 points. Hampden Academy came out on top with 63, while Mt Ararat edged Brunswick with a better 6th runner for the runner-up trophy. Camden Hills girls repeat, Ellsworth boys impressive in EM B races

The Camden Hills girls made a statement as they repeated as EM champs. The Windjammers scored 51 to outdistance surprise runner-up Waterville & MDI. On the Boys side Ellsworth made a statement Individually Bethanie Brown trounded the field with easily the fastest girls time of the day, in fact the only one sub 20 on the day as she ran 18:46. Dan Curts was the boys winner as he was 50 seconds better than Ben Trapani the runner-up, Curts time was the fastest boys time on the day

White & Koch triumph in EM Class C race

Tyler White used his patented last race surge to take home top honors in 17:27, while Casryn Koch won her 3rd straight tile on the girls side. The Orono boys were dominate in taking the team title, while Washburn took top honors in the girls race. Check out our meet coverage & see who is moving on to the state meet next week.

Morrison & Pan Capture WM A titles

Massabesic Boys put on a dominating performance for the ages to capture the Western Class A title. George Morrison of Massabesic was the surprise winner on the boys side in 17:29. Nyajock Pan of South Portland took the girls race in 19:52. The Bonny Eagle girls took home first while Massabesic ran well for 2nd. Relive the races and find out who qualified for the state meet

Western Maine Class B Regional XC Championship

Cape Boys & Falmouth Girls top WM B races

Silas Eastman of Fryeburg cruised to the boys WM title as he was able to ease up over the last half of the race to win in 16:47. On the girls side Greely's Kirstin Sandreuter was the only girl in the race below 20 minutes as she stopped the clock at 19:57. The Cape Boys had a strong performance to win by 46 points while the Falmouth girls had a convincing win on the girls side. Western Maine Class C Regional XC Championship

Pierce & Thayer run to WM C titles

Merrcioneag's Jack Pierce did the unthinkable he ran the fatest time of the day for boys after the course at Twin Brook had been chewed to shreds. The senior clocked 16:38 to hold off a challenge from Josef Holt Andrews of Telstar (16:46). On the girls side Sophia Thayer used a fast last mile to separate from NYA's Hannah Austin to win in 21:12. Check out the coverage and see who will be running next week in the state meet
