2012-13 Indoor Track Event Previews: 2 Mile
Class A
2012 state runner-up Mary Szatkowski of Bonny Eagle is back, a year ago she ran a best of 11:35 for 2miles. Szatkowski went on the place 5th in the 3200 outdoors and this fal running XC for the firt time finished 4th in the state. Charlotte Pierce of Thornton Academy finished 4th last winter, she returns with the fastest time of 11:29.31. Outdoors Charlotte was strong again this time finishing 3rd in the 3200m, and this fall she was 8th in the XC state championship. Also returning is 5th place finisher Kiera Murray of Cheverus, Murray is coming of a strong XC season where she finished 7th. Shannon Conley has switched jerseys from the purple and gold of Cheverus to the red and white of South Portland this winter, a year ago she finished. Outdoors Conley was 6th in the 3200 and this fall finished 5th in the XC state meet.

Class B
All 7 scorers from last winter are back which means this should be one of the best events in Class B. Leading the way is Bethanie Brown of Waterville who won the tate title last winter, and then went on to run 10:29.04 at the New Balance National meet where she earned All-American honors via her 4th place finish. Her mark at National broke the Maine all-time best indoors. Outdoors she won the Clas B title at 3200 & the New England title as well. This fall Brown won the Class B state title and was 7th in the NE meet.
Greely's Kirstin Sandreuter was the runner-up a year ago, she ran a personal best at the NE championships of 10:57 to earn All-NE honors. Breaking 11 indoors puts her in some good company as very few girls have accomplished the feat. Kirstin was again the runner-up outdoors in the 3200 as well as the Clas B XC state meet this fall, finishing behind Brown each time.
Camden Hills Brittany Bowman was 3rd last winter and also finished 3rd in the XC state meet this fall. Lat winter Bowman rannunder 11:30 with a best of 11:26. Oceanside's Abby Hersom finished in 4th, she was 8th in the 3200m outdoors, while placing 7th in the XC state meet this fall.
Also returning is Aleta Looker of Ellsworth (5th), Madeline Roberts of Falmouth (6th) & Caroline Driscoll oOF mdi (7th)
