2012-13 Indoor Track Event Previews: 800m
Class A
The top 3 are back led by state champion Samantha Cox of Bonny Eagle. Cox ran a indoor personal best to win the title last winter, she followed that up with a sub 2:20 performance outdoors where she finished as the state runner-up. Deering's Edie Pallozzi was the state runner-up last winter, she won the 800m title as a freshman. South Portland's Nyajock Pan finished 3rd a year ago, while outdoors she placed 5th. The other returner scorer is Brunwick's Anna Cowan who nabbed the last podium spot. Others to watch for are Shannon Conley of South Portland and Kyaunna Libby who scored 3rd and 6th outdoors respectively.

Class B
This will be a stacked event this winter as the first 6 scorers from a year ago are back. Leading the way is Waterville's Bethanie Brown who was the state champion, Brown ran a blistering 2:15.44 personal best at the New Balance National meet, she'll be chasing the 2:13.69 state all-time best this winter. State runner-up Aleta Looker also ran a big time personal best last year as she clocked a best of 2:16.04 also at the NBN meet, outdoors she won her first individual state title. Also back are 3rd places finisher Kelsey Grass of Blefast & 4th place finisher Jess Wilson of Greely. Outdoors Wilson finished 4th again while Grass was 5th. Foxcroft's Fern Morrison scored 5th as a freshman last year, she was the Class C runner-up in outdoors. The other returner scorer is Hannah Perkins of Lake Region who placed 6th at both the indoor & outdoor state meets.
