Alex Moser (Jr. York) was the surprise winner of the boys seeded race at the Maine Festival of Champions held at the Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast this afternoon. Moser crossed the tape in 16:28.6 while Will Geoghegan (Jr. Brunswick) was just three ticks back in 16:31.3. Scarborough & Greely had a great battle for the top spot, the Red Storm prevailed with a 92-97 win. On the girls side super freshman Abbey Leonardi (Kennebunk) led from the gun to win by 47 seconds, running 18:43. Another freshman Fiona Hendry (Cheverus) was 2nd, clocking a 19:30. The course ran slower today than usually due to the 9 inches of rain in the last week on the course, although not the best conditions all athletes and teams did a great job, and the meet management was superb once again!
