What was your most memorable race/moment?
My most memorable race was the 200m at Maranacook my Junior year. I was in the slow heat but no one else showed up. I ended up running in lane three all by myself. Right after I crossed the line the meet got canceled due to lightning so I won.
Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
Josh Horne. Josh started running at the same time I did and we have both progressed together. Josh and I have been great friends for the past two years. During the indoor seasons Josh trained me and my team. He has been great to have around and I look forward to training/competing with him for the next four years.
What was your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment would probably be breaking 10 minutes in the 3200. I knew I was in shape enough at the time to do it but it was very tough mentally.
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
If I could do it all over again I would have started running sooner. I did not start running until sophomore year, and it wasn't until the end of cross country that year that I realized I had potential and started trying. I have always wondered where I could be in my running career if I had started sooner.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Throughout this past year I have had medical problems that I still have not figured out. It has affected at unexpected times throughout the year and can be pretty difficult to deal with, although, I am very fortunate to have friends and family that have helped me through it.
What will you miss the most?
My distance family. Over the past few years my teammates and I have formed a bond that will be hard to get rid of. They are all brothers and sisters to me and I will miss them all when I leave, especially Emmitt Heath and Owen Concaugh. I will also miss the chocolate milk mile around our dirt track at the end of each season.
What advice you would give to younger athletes?
It's not all about winning all of the time. The most important part of running is having fun and loving the sport. There are a lot of wonderful people in the running community and every one of them are friendly. I have met a lot of people I will never forget through running.
What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
My coach, Justin Laverriere, has been a huge influence on my life. He has pushed me to limits I never knew I had, not only in running, but in almost every aspect of my life. There are not many people out there that care about a group of kids as much as he does. I can never thank him enough for all that he has done for me.
What are your college plans?
I will be attending the University of Maine at Orono to study Chemical Engineering. I will also be running cross country and track.
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to say thank you to my mom. She has been to every single meet I have competed in since the day I started. Regardless of how I preform she has always been supportive and proud of me. She is easily my biggest fan.
