2024 Outlook: The Flyers are coming off of a runner-up finish at the Class C state meet, and bring back six of the top seven from a year ago. Coach Withers has two new runners Hana Hirschkorn and Emma Vickery who he expects to help out as well. Waynflete has won the Southern Regional Championship the last two years and will be the favorite to win a third in a row. Grace Alexander will lead the way, with Lucy Olsen and Paige Alexander providing quality depth. Many of the Waynfletes runners also play on the soccer team which makes for an interesting dynamic but they have proven it to be a successful mix as they won the soccer title, and were runner-ups in cross-country, could they bring home both titles in 2024?

Coach Steve Withers Comments:We return a strong core, only graduating 1 runner from our top 7 last year. Hana Hirschkorn (10th grade) and Emma Vickery (11th grade) will make immediate impacts.

With the understanding that a successful season begins with training during the summer months, many of our athletes worked to improve their strength & endurance through running and cross-training. A few runners also competed in the Weekly Back Cove Series. Thus far, we look strong & eager to race. The expectation is that we're competitive at the regional and state level. We have the opportunity again to repeat as Class C Regional champs (won in 2022 & 2023) and compete for a state championship.
