XC Countdown 2024: Evan Small (South Portland High School)

#7 Evan Small (South Portland)

Class of 2025

2023 Results

  • Class A State Meet 7th Place (16:23.66)
  • Class A Southern Regional 11th place (17:39.94)
  • Festival of Champions 11th place (16:12.47)
  • New England Championship 96th Place (16:51.38)

Small had a strong junior campaign that saw him place 7th in the Class A state meet. Evan ran 16:12.47 a year ago on the course at Belfast at FOC where he finished 11th. During the winter he won the SMAA 2-mile title and placed third in the Class A state meet. Unfortunately, injury struck during the outdoor season last spring and Small was sidelined with a stress fracture in his femur which has also slowed his training for the upcoming XC season. Expect Small to start the season off a little slower than usual but don't be surprised when the championship season rolls around to see him in the lead pack challenging for a state title.
